I was thinking when changing lens:

a)just tilt the body so that CCD/CMOS face downwards then only unscrew the lens and swap the lens.
b)go to toilet since high humidity reduce static and less dust

What else ar?

a) Tilting the body downwards will ward off dust from sensor but will expose more dust to lens.

b) Malaysia overall has humidity of around 80-85%. No need toilet.

just change lens like normal

go service ur camera once in a while

depends on conditoin la. my style is just do it as fast as possible, body pointed downwards.

Not sure whether more worrisome or same. At least sensor got self-cleaning unit but lenses don't. I try to keep the body and lens horizontally while changing lens. I'll always put on the lens cover once removed and only open when want to put back in.

You'd better worry more about static charge than dust when in countries with low humidity. It'll fry your equipment. Furthermore, the countries over there have cleaner air than here.

Have you ever sent your camera for service as well? It is not really a full blown service but they would just clean your sensor for dust and it is FREE.

Now try running your car for 30,000km without a service and you know what it means. If you are too lazy to service your own tools, then don't blame the tool when it doesn't work. Blame your lacklustre attitude.

i used to be like very careful when changing lens, prepare everything first, then only do the swap...

but when you are doing event, u seriously don't have the time to becareful... just change only...

dust is too light and will be flowing everywhere, so i don't think it matter if u point it up or down...

get a slr with dust reduction la...i change lens basically everywhere and anytime i feel like it..no worry..

Hmn..just wondering how much is it to send the lens to the camera shop just to get rid off the dust inside the lens?

Go to toilet to change lens? No offense but thats very impractical if not funny...

It is near impossible to find a toilet some times out in the field (say Angkor Wat) or I never had time to go toilet during important events. Tilting the camera downwards is most likely the best.

for me it would be.

1) Get rear lens cap ready.
2) Face camera down, Detach lens.
3) Plance lens in bag and immediately fasten lens rear lens cap(Camera still facing down)
4) Remove lens cap from the attaching lens and immediately attach to camera.

DO ALL THE ABOVE IN THE LEAST DUSTY AND WINDY PLACE.

it is not as serious as what you guys are saying lerr
just get a blower and chuck it in your camera bag and blow the sensor if you notice a couple of dust.

Well, its more like "Prevention is better than Cure". Some stubborn dusk particles can ruin that special Photo-Op moment....

the only prevention is not to change lenses... simple

Unless your lens is weather sealed, not changing lens will still attract dusts. My friend never changed the lens on his 5D, but dusts still gets onto the sensor.

Just always have a blower ready and blow the dusts away as u see them. Get rid of the dusts in photoshop if they appear in pictures.

If people want to make such a big deal out of it, do this:

1) build a vacuum box with gloves attatched to the box.
2) put your sexy lens/camera in the box and seal it.
3) turn on the vacuum and suck out all the dusts.
4) close the vacuum vents immediately after 2 mins.
5) do everything in the vacuum box with the gloves.
