The article was saying Cantonese Fried Ho Fun (kueh teow in cantonese) is indeed dry, meanwhile authentic char kueh teow from Chaoshan aka Teochew should be wet.

Penang char kueh teow is dry, I believe is influenced by Cantonese way of cooking, in order to cater local palate, plus replacing beef with prawn and cockle.

So conclusion: Char kueh teow basah is legit. Since place of teochew origin aka Chaoshan is indeed basah flex.gif

Cantonese Fried Hor Fun =/= CKT.
Cantonese Fried noodles have starchy gravy.

Never said penang char kueh teow ain't teochew, just that it's revolutionized version to please Penangite palate.
Char kueh teow basah is the one closer to place to origin. flex.gif

You do know Hokkien is different from Teochew and Cantonese, right? Therefore cooking is different. Pg style cooking is influenced by chinese hokkiens, a bit of malay, kerala, british, siam as well so not directly chinese. Most of the dishes like assam laksa, nasi kandar, ckt, kuey teow thng, pasembur, cnt be found in the host countries even Hainan chicken chop or inche kabin, chap chai soup, ais kacang dll. Even famous prawn mee or hokkien mee.

Penang is Teochew la. But u are correct, is influenced by local palate.
That's why Penang dry one is also char kueh teow, basah one is also char kueh teow. Stop saying basah one not char kueh teow as it is indeed closer to the origin whistling.gif

Ayam order kuey teow goreng or kuey teow basah. No need pening kepala if get wet or dry char kuey teow.

But origin place chaoshan char kueh teow is basah ma. Meaning basah 1 closer to origin. whistling.gif

Teow chew yr head-la. Unless born and bred in Pg island, no need to give wrong info. Stick to wat you know which is not much but copy pasta and wait for Jan 18!
