Hi sifus,

If you look at my last topic, I was asking for opinion whether I should get a used SUV or a brand new X70 for my daily drive. I have actually settled down with buying a brand new X70 and has driven it for the past few years. So far, I feel I made the right decision with the car. The feel of the car is good, the power is great, and it really serves me well for daily driver.

But now, I'm looking for a fun weekend car. I'm contemplating between these two model. Either the BMW F32 420i 2016 B48 engine, or the Toyota 86 year 2015. I have driven both. Leaning towards the F32 as the interior space is bigger and I have always love the look of the F32. However, Toyota 86 is much sportier but it's bit cramped inside.

I feel Toyota 86 would be a smart choice due cheaper maintenance and I like how the value of the car doesn't depreciate as bad as the BMW, as a matter of fact, the market price of the car really hold strong.

Considering I'll be driving only on weekends, perhaps the maintenance of the BMW won't be as bad as well?

I plan to drive the car for leisure and fun, and maybe perhaps on some occasions. Really can't decide between these 2 cars and hoping any sifus who has experience with these cars can help me decide.

Thank you!

Its no brainer, if you want to consider 2nd hand value than go for Toyota.

If you dont care about it and got 20k in emergency fund for any major repairs then go for BMW.

Most continentals parts got life span, once reach the life span even tho less mileage also will leak.
For latest B series engine, coolant leaking is normal after 3~5 years. If dont have money one time change all related parts, for sure gonna curse BMW always Banyak Masuk Workshop. laugh.gif
