The Japanese animation company Gonzo and the design studio Nitroplus (Phantom of Inferno) announced at the annual Nitro Super Sonic event on November 1 that they are collaborating on BLASSREITER -genetic-, a new anime project with director Ichiro Itano (Gantz, Battle Royal High School). Niθ (Demonbane, Neppu Kairiku Bushi Lord games) is creating the original character and mechanical designs, and Naoyuki Onda (Gantz, The Animatrix's "Detective Story") is refining the character designs for animation. Gen Urobuchi (Phantom of Inferno, Fate/Zero novels) is supervising the scripts which are being co-written by Yasuko Kobayashi (Claymore, Shakugan no Shana). Noboru Kimura (My-HiME, Cosplay Complex) will write a preview manga in the January 2008 issue (on sale December 19) of Akita Shoten's Champion Red, and Shū Hirose will illustrate it.
Personally i hate the mecha and char designs in Demonbane. But i think this is Ichiro Itano's (of Macross' itano circus fame) next anime directing job. This should be interesting but has huge potential to be train wreck as well.

but since its collaborating with Gonzo,maybe will give it a try..
These 2 statements seem to be wrong.... swt. If think you mean nitroplus = crappy due to the Demonbane anime? But dun think nitroplus had anything to do with it except original source material.
I enjoyed Phantom of the Inferno visual novel, it has nice writing despite slow pacing and gun obsession went with it.
However, I have jarring memories of Demonbane anime (shame, I seen the game story and it looks decent) and equally godawful Phantom of the Inferno OVA ( it is a serious waste of time).
Fate Zero is great stuff thanks to tight writing from same scenarist from Nitroplus.
But this project raised 1 BIG red flag for me, namely Gonzo. I liked some Gonzo project like Last EXILE but most of their production is not exactly high brow for me.
Will look at it with great trepidation, that's for sure.
Some anime blogger said that this series is bad. mainly due to the CG? or because they have high expectation after watching druaga? well, for me, it is actually not bad. the story is pretty interesting and i love the mecha + bike. looking forward to epi2.
