Combat patrols for the fractions is a great starting point and gives you a general feel for the fraction. Very minimal cost investment and it’s a complete army out of the box. If you like it and want to continue, then look for the Christmas boxed set or similar discount boxes for your army.

Each combat patrol is around 500 points while battleforce or boxes sets range from 600-1000 points on average.

There are 3 standard points games that are official

500 points
1000 points
2000 points.
People would build 500 pts first then move on to 1000 and 2000 later on.

High level competitive plays like the Las Vegas open and others uses the 2000 points format.
