I will be traveling back to Malaysia after working in the US for several years, and was curious about the job titles for Digital Marketing here in Malaysia.

Is it true that the Marketing Coordinator position is lower than Marketing Executive? The HR I talked to a week ago mentioned this. In the US, the lowest ranking title would be Marketing Associate, followed by Marketing Coordinator/Specialist.

If anyone is in HR for a company that hired Marketing personnel or is currently a Digital Marketer, I would love to discuss this topic with you.

That's right, technically here - Marketing Coordinator would be the lowest in rank within the department because they're like the marketing administrator who takes on the paperwork, coordination/ liaison etc.

If you have prior experience in Digital Marketing, then you're all set for Executive or Senior Executive position. Digital "Specialist" will be someone very specific in a certain role/ task and iinm more technical part of the scope - where you don't deal with clients (if you're working for an agency).

Btw a title is just a title. Read up on the job scope/ responsibilities & requirement - that will be more accurate.
