You get what you pay. A lot of these cars either very old, problematic, accident or flood units, better get a mechanic to drop by check the car condition before purchase. This post has been edited by littlefire: Oct 8 2024, 09:48 AM FrogBlob liked this post

Generally would try to stay within 10 year old cars. Unless find older one really well maintained. At below 10K, mostly only Saga. With 7K budget you are looking at 10-20 years old hence repair cost might be quite high. FrogBlob liked this post

QUOTE(FrogBlob @ Oct 11 2024, 11:06 AM) 5 yr car, engine gasket sudah out, leaking oil. Do proper servicing & apply gasket (the one that comes of from the tube), mounting, etc. RM1k+ gone.Air cond suka2 on suka2 off, blow hot air. Common issue - need to change the air cond knob panel - that part is RM400+ excluding labour. I thought is just variable resistor like Iswara, why such a simple and supposedly lasting component become so easy to spoil and so expensive to replace? The power window no need to say la ha... after 4x send to SC finally fixed. Other things starting to come out since 5yrs+ car no more warranty. Cheap car but parts is H or T level, but cannot compete in terms of reliability. Fast2 sell. FrogBlob liked this post

Depends on your luck. If zero knowledge about cars, don't buy. In my case, I bought a 2007 Savvy full spec for a mere 1k. The owner refused to spend any more dough on it. Back home, I replaced the fuel pump, crank sensor, clock spring, coil pack and power window switches. All bought from Shopee and DIY over 3 weekends. She started up immediately and by following week, the runner came to collect and send for Puspakom inspection. Once all done, I bought new insurance and RT for it. Everything including the car cost me RM 4k. I then added another 1k for dashcam with reverse camera, new speakers and head unit. After about 2 months, the clutch started slipping so I replaced the clutch for another 1k with workmanship plus right lower arm. All in about 6k. Cheap fuel consumption. A full tank running around the Rimbayu area lasted about 3 weeks. amscouzach57, FrogBlob, and 2 others liked this post
