wondering if anyone could assist in where to look at for the issue i encountered today as i hope not for it to happen again especially during heavy traffic

was riding for 20 mins in traffic, at a stop the bike just died suddenly. Start up the engine twice but it stayed at 1k rpm refusing to increase rpm for 1 sec and died again. hit the kill switch but dash and lights all remained on despite the flipping the kill switch (which should cut all power to the bike)
turned off ignition key and push the bike to the side of the road and waited for 2 mins before starting it up again and continued my journey, bike performed as normal as though nothing happened, no choking no nothing. no delay in starting up the engine as well hmm.gif

CB250R, mileage 20k, serviced according to schedule and temp was normal when it happened.
where should the mechanic look at I've no idea

kill switch and lights all on? by "kill switch" do you mean the key? or just the right side handle button?

1k RPM upon starting is quite low, that's why it refused to rev up, and I'm agreeing with the comment, could be fuel pump issue, or:
- gas cap vent blocked
- do you habitually overfill petrol every time?
- any recent service items?

- do you habitually overfill petrol every time?-
yes, i figured that might be the cause of the issue, did that total about 10-12 times (about 0.5 - 1 litre additional after the fuel reaches the metal bar that blocks the nozzle from entering)
no recent service items, just regular service interval oil change (mileage 21k)

overfilling petrol will lead to fuel pump damage right?

rode around town today (low- high rev) to see whether it happened again but it didn't, should i get it checked or wait for it to happen again before sending it in?
