I wonder why Apple Malaysia doesn't lower the price. Apple Singapore drops the price of the newly updated Macbook. I bought my Macbook under the Education Discount. Previously it was priced S$2087, now it is only S$2048 (around RM4717). Not too bad rite? Price without Education Discount is S$2188.

really? mind to tell which shop you go? is it every shop in sg selling the same price? i would like to ask my sis buy for me since apple in UK is more exp than malaysia

I bought it through apple.com.sg. you can only get education discount when you purchase online.

If you don't really need a lappie at the moment, you might want to wait for probably a few months before you get your Mac. I think Leopard is still not stable. Just now my Safari closed unexpectedly AGAIN....so as my aMSN and iTune. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif And just now the dock disappear to nowhere. I have to move the cursor and click click the lower part baru it appeared again. shakehead.gif Sometimes the response is also quite slow...despite the fact that this is latest update with new graphic card.

really? ya i not need it urgently, but i just pissed cause need share laptop with my gf only... somemore i am coming back malaysia during dec, so i think to get in malaysia since the price in malaysia is a lot cheaper than UK... I don understand why UK sell comp stuff even mac so expensive....

I do hear about leopard is not stable yet... but i think apple will solve it soon.. i think i just wait for awhile, hoping apple will come out new design...

Usually the cycle Apple updates their Macbook line is around 200 days. I think the design will only come out around 6 to 7 months later. ohmy.gif

The delivery is restricted to Singapore address only. The delivery is free of charge though...and they will send it to you within 24 hours.
I was in lecture when the guy called me and asked where's my block. I told him to put it in the residence reception counter. After finish lecture I quickly rush back to retrieve it. tongue.gif
No. You don't need a student card to enjoy the education discount. They don't even require you to key in your student card number or what so ever. Even aunty uncle also can enjoy this discount. rclxms.gif

But you need to agree that you are a student though (by clicking the 'I Agree' button before proceeding). I think they can do something to you if you abuse it.

I don't think they will find out. Once you placed your order, they will send you an email telling you that your order is being processed. After that, they will inform you your item is shipped or what. During that time, the item is already passed to their appointed carrier, which in this case, is a carrier codenamed XBAX in Singapore. Even if Apple find out you are not a student, you can always say you buy it to someone else smaller that you who still attends school. LOL. icon_rolleyes.gif

luige,

1. Your MB comes with intel GMA 950 or Intel X3100? The "A" revision or 'B" revision?
2. Does the cheaper price valid for purchase with Credit Card?
*
I thought it's already mentioned a few times? It's the latest Macbook. If purchase with credit card, then the price is former price.

Need to buy a laptop soon.
Still debating if PC or Macbook.
Newbie with Mac here...
So can Macbook do MSN messaging (video call) and Skype.. no problem right?
I will be also doing some HD video editing, any problem?
A lot of learning curve if start using macbook...Is it worth it

One newbie question. if the macbook can run window OS. Do you think if i buy any new PC laptop, i can dual boot with Mac OS Leopard?
*
aMSN supports video call (though I haven't really tried that out yet), personal message as well as nudge. But I now use Adium because it is more stable and faster. Previously my aMSN quit unexpectedly like shit.
The bad thing about Adium is that you can't see other people's personal message.

1 thing i realise about the new macbooks.

if you see properly.. the word 'macbook' under the screen.... is senget.

the right side is lower. means the letter M is higher than the letter K

I think mine is alright. Might be isolated case loh...

I just bought a 2G Kingston Value RAM from the PC Show here in Singapore. S$69. Dunno it's considered cheap or expensive.

Was struggling whether should get 2 sticks of 1G or just one stick of 2G because the price of 1G RAM is rather lucrative @ S$30. But later decided that 2G stick would be a better investment as I can still expand my RAM to 4G without wasting any sticks.

Now the problem arises: I don't know how to change the RAM.

I saw a promoter changed the RAM of a Macbook just now but am too afraid to try it myself. What is the consequence if the RAM is not installed properly?

if you mis-install the RAM, your MacBook will not boot up. also, i doubt you can get the metal cover back in.

I would ask you to drop by my office in 1 Utama, Petaling Jaya, but you're in Kuching? tongue.gif

I read and watched the installation video just now. Seems like it's not that hard to install the RAM. But what bugs me is that whether the RAM I purchased will cause problem to my MB or not. I bought Kingston Value RAM but there are some reports saying that their MBs became unstable and will reboot unexpectedly after they installed the RAM. I am quite worried this will happen to me... sad.gif

Oh...that's very kind of you for offering to help me install. But I am currently in Singapore and will be going back to Kuching soon. laugh.gif

I've just installed the 2G RAM I bought yesterday. So far so good. Boot up time is same as before....

Am now running Rember to test it. Hopefully everything is ok. :-)

Added on December 2, 2007, 3:44 amJust finished running the tests by Rember and Apple Hardware Test. No error detected. So I suppose I don't have to worry about Kernel Panic or random restart?

I tried to run many applications to test the system. No lagging at all. smile.gif

I can also switch between spaces smoothly.

All in all, I am quite pleased with the performance of my MB now. And I hope the newly installed RAM won't cause any problem in the future.

care to share what RAM you purchased and what brand what model to be precise ?
how much it costs you for that 1-piece 2GB ?

I use Kingston Value RAM as recommended by other forumers. biggrin.gif

It's S$69 per stick.

I run Rember again and quit all the applications including Finder. But damn, now my shortcut keys are no longer working.
I can't adjust the brightness using F1 and F2 keys, the media keys are also not working.
Any idea how can I restore the functions?
