meanwhile the chaina ppl visiting kl and penang who ask me for help in bus routes, mandarin-malay translation to locals, and directions etc seem to be rather polite and humble normal folk. my self-taught mandarin has improved to a point where I can hold my own in a conversation with them. I once spent approx 30min pleasantly chatting with a bunch of tourists who asked for help in using the coin-op washers and dryers.
