Haha, so cute. I just love it when they rest their head over you, never fails to melt hearts!

He's a sweetheart. Very hyper but obedient. Gets along well with my 2 other dogs and quite submissive. I'm hoping to keep him that way. But can't help but notice, how come your Juno so slim but Benji so overweight. Wonder if he will shed his baby fat. biggrin.gif

Hi....I posted some pics of my Pitbull/Bulldog mix here when he was a puppy. His Name is Benji. Well, he has turned 2. And I have to say that Benji is the sweetest, most submissive dog I have ever had. I've had a few mongrels and a Doberman and none of them compares to Benji. He is friendly to everyone, adults and children and even ok with cats. I brought home a sick kitten who unfortunately succumbed to his sickness and died. While he was with me, my other 2 dogs ( Mongrels )could not stand him. Benji wanted to befriend him but the kitten was too sick to play with him. Also, he is very respectful of my two other mongrels who are older than him, especially the older one who is male. Benji will never go near him when he is eating, and never ever sit on his 'spot'. Anyway, here are some recent pictures of Benji.

Oh ya.... and here's some pics of my older mongrel Chester and Benji. They kind of have an older brother younger brother relationship.
And also one pic of Benji on his favorite Chair. And also one of the look that I get from him every morning when I go to work.

By the way, my whole family is just so in love with him. My mom does not really dare to pet Chester cos he tends to snap. But she dare to cuddle Benji... biggrin.gif

Kimmy, your Benji's temperament is totally different from my two pit/dobe crossbreeds, siblings from 2 different litters, 3/4 years old. They are neutered & female but the prey drive is very strong in them, one extremely so. This particular 3 year old crossbreed is so fiercely pitbull in all her ways; alert, territorial, dominant, stubborn, aggressive, athletic but a potential danger to all other smaller animals including dogs, cats, squirrels, birds. Not tested on house burglars yet but anything that intrudes into her backyard is fair game. You get the picture. The other 4 year old dog has a milder temperament but will not tolerate intruders as well. My backyard is very well guarded from animal or human intrusion as a result.

The two dogs have fought several times over domination issues. I have been inadvertently nipped in the leg a couple of times when breaking up their fights, and dragged to the ground by them suddenly lunging at a cat hiding in the bushes. I walk them before 6 am every morning, oftentimes with a friend's 2 dogs, and they are ok together. But sometimes I have to lay down the law before they get out of hand wanting to chase a strange cat, or going after another dog or a passing motorcyclist. This is an ongoing disciplinary issue.

Your Benji is an angel by comparison but certainly no watchdog! Cheers.

I agree that my Benji is no watchdog! He is just too friendly and babyish. However, my older mongrel is a very good watch dog. He is the most dominant of my 3 dogs ( 2 Mongrels and 1 Pitbull), stubborn, alert and aggresive also. I guess my mongrel and my pitbull sort of switch personalities laugh.gif

Actually all pitbull enthusiasts should check out and like these two FB pages. They are of Gremlin and Elle. Both pit bulls and both members of the Therapits. They are certified therapy dogs who were former bait dogs before they were rescued. They have done so much to help people and also to promote the good of this breed.

Maybe cos Benji's Mother is half English Bull Dog and Pitbull is what makes him more docile since English Bull Dogs are not known to be aggresive.
But his Father is Pure Rednose Pitbull. I do not know who took his 2 other siblings so I could not compare notes with them.

My training methods with him is actually very soft. I have always been fascinated by Pit Bulls and did a lot of research before deciding to take Benji home.My main concern when I first brought Benji home was that he and my male mongrel will not get along as my male mongrel (Big size)is very dominant. My female is a small mongrel.I have 2 Males and a Female right now including Benji.I know that Benji has the strength to overpower me anytime he wants. He weights about 40kgs and has a very powerful jaw and I'm just a 5foot tall girl...But I trust that he respects me enough not to do that.

I take discipline seriously, don't get me wrong. When he was a puppy I enforce what is called by some trainers as a hierarchy. He is taught that he is the lower member of the pack. He MUST at all times respect all humans who live in this house with him. Humans are his pack leader. Next, he MUST respect the 2 older dogs. So they get their food, snacks and toys always before him.I do not tolerate any aggression towards the pack. I also do not tolerate stealing other dog's food and toys. A 'time out' will be the result of breaking the rules.
Of course a balance diet, exercise and love goes a long way.

I am NOT a dog trainer, nor am I claiming to be one. I learn what I know through books,CDs and advise on training. Also from miskates I made with my 2 other dogs. Just posting here to share experience of bringing up a Pitbull in a household which has 2 other dogs of different breeds.

Benji always muka kesian.

Not only Muka kesian...Muka manja also. Sometimes he gets confused and thinks that he's a lapdog. Which is not good for me cos I will have a 40kg dog trying to sit on my lap. I would push him off cos I cannot breathe...then he will just settle for my leg rclxub.gif

This is Benji's expression when he sees me all dressed up going visiting.

And you should have seen him with my guests during CNY. He was so welcoming of everyone. Even some people he never saw before.
A good example of a Pitbull who is extremely friendly and does not have a vicious bone in his body.
