While driving along the MEX highway today I heard a lot "thud" like something hitting my windshield. At first I couldn't find anything wrong, but a few hours after I parked the car I noticed a hairline crack along it, as per the attached picture.

I'm new at owning a car, so I have questions:

a. is there a way to fix this or is the only solution to do a windshield replacement?

b. if it's replacement, should I do it at a Honda workshop or would a third-party shop suffice?

c. would getting the windshield replaced at a third-party shop void the warranty? The car is still within the 5-year warranty and I'd prefer to keep it as long as possible.

d. how much would the repair (or replacement) cost? Finally,

e. I have windshield coverage for my car insurance; if I claim for that, would that affect my NCB?

Don't think can 100% repair. Replace better.

b. if it's replacement, should I do it at a Honda workshop or would a third-party shop suffice?
Did mine outside but I don't send my car to authorized sc anymore.

c. would getting the windshield replaced at a third-party shop void the warranty? The car is still within the 5-year warranty and I'd prefer to keep it as long as possible.
Could check with sc.

d. how much would the repair (or replacement) cost? Finally,
This is not double layer noise reduction type? Guess ard 2k with inflation.

e. I have windshield coverage for my car insurance; if I claim for that, would that affect my NCB?
I claim mine under windshield coverage under msig. NCB not affected. Could check with provider.

and seriously if the SC say this void the warranty ask them to put it in paper and you must take out phone and them repeat themselves. no need record their face just the surounding and the voice saying it.

they sked and piss the pants. wat fucuk the windshield got to do with car performance.

dont worry too much la. im a frequent driver and driving in KL include scratches, dent, breakage, wind shield break. nothg special. go in the morning and force them to finish by 4pm. i always do that

I just checked with my insurance, I got the windscreen coverage so thankfully my NCD won't be affected.

Does the tint film offer additional protection?

Bro for my claim last time, I check with my insurance agent. They sent their panel tech to your house and replace there itself.
If you have warranty card/ receipt for your existing tint, they will replace like for like. In my case they replaced same llumar branded tint for me.
If don’t have they give their own generic tint.

No hassle man. Set appointment, come your house siap with tint installed on new glass. Wait 2-3 hours for them to install.

Front windscreen tint no security film ya. It’s normal tint. For safetu reason. If any accident u can break front glass to get out if side glass got security film.

1. Not permanently

2. Up to you. Both also can. I did my outside twice coz faster.

3. No.

4. Usually covered in your insurance but you most likely don't have to pay anything. If you are unsure, you can check your insurance policy on how much you cover for the windshield and then compared to the cost of replacing it. You can just Google the cost of replacing it. The cost of replacing includes tint.

5. No. Just check your insurance cover on windshield to make sure it is enough to cover the cost.

I do this almost every year. Go to your insurance website to check the panel shot list. Google the shops to make sure they are competent. Book a datw and time and go. Usually will take around 1 to 2 hours to fix.

1st of all, your ride got ASA, Brake Assits System or Auto light/wiper system? If got better go back official SC as after change the windscreen you need to recalibrate the sensors. There are cases that outside people replace and damage the sensor and no warranty for that. Some SC can also help claim the windscreen using insurance, need to ask first to confirm which branch.

THIS !!!

Adjusting the vehicle's height can interfere with the vehicle radar systems. TS already has insurance for the glass, balik je SC for assistance. Do outside later, bubur jadi nasi baru tahu.

insurance for windshield usually 1 time replacement per-year.
- if renewal cycle still long, still drivable, not to replace fast2 it ok.
- if insurance near end, change windshield now laa..

price for windshield with front sensor , rain sensor , will go to Rm3k .

car with warranty must go dedicate service center, u got front sensor to cover warranty.

If got any similar technology/sensor on the windscreen and still under warranty better go back SC and ask, outside risk is higher if damage to the sensors.

Just send windscreen shop to put some chemical to stop the crack for getting more bigger. Then renew insurance online add windscreen coverage. After 2-3 months after renewed, send any windscreen shop to claim it under insurance, all in foc. Most shop give tint foc together.

Based on my experience keep changing windscreen under insurance annually thanks to Lumut trunk road lorry give me windscreen crack

For Accord rain sensor, light sensor, it just PNP after installing new windscreen. For x70 with those and camera, similar, PNP after installing new windscreen

thats a big crack cannot be repaired.
What car? If X70, go to proton they will say need many thing, but you can just go to a good windscreen shop.
Good you have windscreen coverage, depends on how much you bought, you may need to top up. cover tint or not is up to how much you bought.

a. is there a way to fix this or is the only solution to do a windshield replacement?
- There is a DIY liquid to fix these, it won't be perfect it will make the crack less obvious, but it won't fix the integrity of the windscreen.

b. if it's replacement, should I do it at a Honda workshop or would a third-party shop suffice?
- If you want to keep your warranty of your accessories around your windscreen, ideally do it at SC, at least if you want to claim any warranty, they won't push the responsible to your third party guy.

c. would getting the windshield replaced at a third-party shop void the warranty? The car is still within the 5-year warranty and I'd prefer to keep it as long as possible.
- SC may try to push the responsible to the windscreen repair if you try to claim warranty for accessories around the windscreen area. (water leaks, sensors, etc)

d. how much would the repair (or replacement) cost? Finally,
- price will varies depending on your windscreen type, original or third party manufacturer.

e. I have windshield coverage for my car insurance; if I claim for that, would that affect my NCB?
- no it won't affect your NCB if you have windshield coverage
