You probably do not wash your car. Last time my car even after 15 years looked good with no paint peeling or look dull. Still look like car used for several years. Never polish though laugh.gif

I used to be using semi senyth engine oil, but during the last change my mechanic mentioned that i should change to use mineral oil. Is that normal for old cars?
*
Don't listen to your mech.. that's one way ticket for problems in near future..

I hate mechs who suggest this... And those who topup water instead of coolant mech.

In the past yes.

Now the engine is manufactured to much higher specs with better material, hence no.

Your mechanic must be old school and didn't keep updated

Talking about engine oil, sometimes I can see Teaco selling imported engines oil at a very attractive discount, are they ok to use in Malaysia?

I read about this Sierra Glow (M) Sdn Bhd, which does not do car painting but assk me to come right after the paining and they will apply their BlueFlame SG6 coating, says it will cost RM 1.5k, and then no need to do waxing and have 5 years warranty.

Any comment?

*
Yeah, I’m definitely satisfied with the paint job.
Yes, need a deposit.. Can’t remember if it’s 50% or 1K

They’re active on social media too, so you can see daily updates of your car! smile.gif

If you plan to drive another 5 years then why not.
That’s why I wax occasionally. To prevent me from having this dilemma. 13 years old car.

The known branded engine oil sold in Tesco was brought in by Tesco from Europe and the sales price was even lower that the cost price reseller got from distributor as I was told. However, they cannot buy the oil from Tesco because it will void the agreement with distributor and cause them problem laugh.gif

So far no engine oil consumption issue.

Hi I havbe a Toyota Vios 1st (year 2005), 19 y.o. I don't intent to sell it, it is very trouble free. The only problem now is the paint work. I have sent it for a repaint job about 7 or 8 years ago, but now it looks like this:

Mostly the top parts that are receiving most sunlight are faded. The sides of the body are still looking good. I have to confest that I have never wax the car.

I have asked a workshop in Serdang, they will charge 3.2k for a full repaint, 10 days work.

I'd like to ask is it a fair price? Are there any alternatives to a full body repaint?
*
yes my first car also same model year 2008, now over 550 k km travel .. minimal problem engine wise ... excellent car for daily use !

from what I see, Lotus is not keen on selling car related products anymore. Can members who live in other ares confirm this?
