I recently bought a R25 and both the tires need to change - front 110/70-17, rear 140/70-17.
Any brand of tire recommendation to replace the tires? Or any criteria I need to consider before to buy them?
Also what are the essential mods you think I will need?

After reading the manual, lots of thing need to check smile.gif
Need to replace the engine oil, oil filter, coolant, air filter, spark plugs, do valve clearance
Need to check brake fluid, brake hose, brake pads, chain tension, front fork, shock absorber
for tpms, is it just for ease of mind?
for voltmeter, what's the purpose?
for forks and shock change, is this an upgrade?

sounds like you don't know a lot
let's start with the basic maintenance from the book and then let us know once all those are checked

👌🏻 will do for my safety

Let me help you with your questions.
TPMS optional item, if dont want every week pump air je. Like your weekly routine.
Voltmeter is definitely a must as you need to look out for your battery health.
If battery very weak dy, you might overwork your rectifier. Rectifier kaput then your cost of fixing goes up.
For fork/shock change, upgrade is optional. See how your bike performs according to your riding style. If your bike feels solid while riding, good nothing to change.
Aftermarket options allow for adjustable rebound/compression, therefore finetuning/improving your riding experience.

Will definitely get the voltmeter. Tpms is cheap enough so will get one. Might try to install it myself. For shock/fork after getting the feel of riding first then decide bah, if not can’t even tell the upgrade make a difference on my butt or not

Thanks for the info all.

Any priority in getting motorcycle gears? I’m thinking of getting helmet, boots and glove first to ride the bike home

Those are definitely important. Do not skip on safety gears.
Helmet try getting the ones with ece22.06 rating.
Jacket, pants, gloves, boots you can get benkia/komine/rs taichi for asian fitting.
Also dont forget rain coat, since raining season is almost here

Depends on your budget

High-end gears can cost thousands like Alpinestars, Dainese, HJC, AGV, Arai

on a budget can look at Star Field Knight, Komine, KYT, RCB

better try fitment first at the physical store before buying like BikEmpire96, Serdang motorcycle, Bikeworld

For helmet, I am looking at KYT TT Course and HJC C10, which should have ECE 22.06. KYT graphic have more choice at my local bike shop. Is KYT good enough or HJC is a better brand?

For Jacket and Glove, will go to your suggested shop and try them out. From local shop, the Taichi jacket looks casual enough to ride in with CE padding, but it doesn't have abrasion resistant(?).

decent helmet options.. hjc is a much bigger brand. c10 is entry level iirc, not bad...  same like jackets and gloves, go try em out. assuming they feel the same, id take the c10
generally ppl have voltmeters on the r25 to monitor the charge voltage, cause this bike commonly has the error 46 issue typically caused by the rectifier socket.
typically the other issues arethe valve sopek issue (mostly down to poor maintnance) and the idle gear perishing (resulting in no oil pressure, also down to poor maintenance)  but yours so new, these 2 shouldn't be an issue.
haha do update us on your quest for tires... got to change mine too. myself am considering maxxis s98 and irc S99... but ill be frank im fairly new to all this...

The salesman told me tt course noise isolation not so good, and the price of c10 and tt still within my budget. Just that c10 my local shop doesn’t have bright graphic. Maybe need to check shop in selangor.

Voltmeter will be in my priority list to buy since it’s fairly cheap and reduce risk.

For tires I bought Michelin Pilot Street 2, will update after I ride for few hundred KMs.

Riding gear with budget <700 won't have abrasion resistant.. those are found on higher end gear.
Even so they are good enough, check my review on an accident I had while wearing komine jacket, rs taichi gloves and benkia pants

Better to have skin cover than none? The Taichi RSJ335 looks very nice, very tempting to buy. Just the padding(or body armor) of the chest and back no CE. Maybe need to buy separate. And when I tried it, it is so freaking heavy. Like I have extra belly. I really like Taichi’s casual look.

Michelin or Pirelli, both have great grip and durability.
*
From the price of both Michelin and Pirelli, should be good tires. At first I looked at Corsa but Corsa doesn't have the exact size for my rear tire. Then I saw Michelin Pilot Street 2 just a tat more expensive then Corsa. Review of the tire is good, so I get it. But Shopee delivery is slow tho.

I saw some Pirelli tires on Shopee but the price is like PREMIUM, not within budget tho, anyone used Pirelli before? How it compare to Michelin and Corsa and any other brands?

I went to collect my bike today at Shah Alam. But it rained when I’m half way home. Need to hide under bridge for half an hour. Luckily I already got my Taichi jacket and off brand gloves, also HJC C10.

Anyone know how to reduce the vibration at the grip? The vibration is killing me ngl. Does a pair of good gloves help?

Since its a used bike it could be because of wear and tear.
Check if handlebar screws are properly tightened.
Handlebar grip might also need to be replaced something with softer compound like Domino A010.
Gloves with thick fabric at the palm and finger area could help too.

Other factor could be that you are gripping the handlebar too tight. This is common to new rider.
Loosen the grip and make it that you can turn the handlebar with just your fingertips.
Relax your shoulders so that you arent pressuring your wrist.

R25 doesn't vibrate from my experience
*
Only till yesterday I realised the rear tire got changed at Imotorbike was flat. And I rode it all the way from shah Alam to Seremban. Luckily I didn’t die from the totally flat rear tire.

I just changed the coolant, air filter (old one dirty like my butthole), front and rear brake pads, and rcb grips. Also adjusted the clutch free play

Fairing is pain in the ass.

Vibration need to see improve or not on next ride.
