Hi there!

Ok, I've finally got time to say hi, and introduce my 2 new boys (given to my by crazymouse, thanks a heap!).


Here's Smoky (the darker one) peeking out from his coconut shell.




This is their new home - a 56litre tank filled with things they can chew on!


Smoky and Biscuit snoozing in a corner - we gave them so many hidey-holes (and a huge burrowing box) but they insist on napping out in the open sometimes ...

Apologies if the shots are too blur/huge/funny coloured. Hope to get better over time (and a LOT of gerbil photos!)

Ha ha ha I just want my kiddies to be happy. I'm glad my setup meets with everyone's approval.

It's not really hard to clean- the boys are really well-mannered and only pee in a particular place so the stink is contained. The box we expect will be chewed to bits in a month, so will swap (along with all the bedding) then! we refresh the bedding once every few weeks, so they always have nice, clean-smelling shavings. And a heap of Timothy Hay!

Me and my bf are now v "semangat" to give them a new habitat once we clean out this one. Plans are already underway ...

One of my gerbils (Biscuit) passed away a few days ago, leaving poor Smoky lonely and sad. I'd like to introduce another pair of gerbils (as he's already 2years old) to keep him company, but I don't want to buy them from the petstore - I'd rather adopt a pair.

I'm not bothered about colour or age, I just want 2 friendly little males to make Smoky happy. Please do PM me if you have any up for adoption - I don't want to leave my poor boy alone for too long ...

I'm glad to see there are still lots of Gerbil moms & dads out there... Makes me feel a lot better!

I don't want to see this thread die, so I'm doing my part in keeping the posts going - so here I am, telling my story!

I've got 3 gerbs now (Smoky - a lilac, and Peanut & Cookie - honeys). Smoky's brother Biscuit died, and I couldn't find a single gerbil to keep him company. Tried a split-screen with Peanut & Cookie (hoping against hope that they'd like him - he's such a sweet little thing) but that didn't take...

Aaanyways, now they're in separate tanks side by side, and at least Smoky's not that lonely - he can hear all the rustling and digging going on next to him, and me & hubby pamper him to no end, heaping lots of care and attention.

In the meantime, Peanut & Cookie are raising hell ! They're monster chewers, and can go through a toilet roll in 3 minutes (one taking each side, chewing until they meet in the middle). There was a jailbreak last weekend, and we found the miscreants underneath the sofa, surrounded by little gerbil pellets! eeewwww ....

But we love all of them dearly... and are now addicted to gerbils!
