kelvin, by now u jus monitor 1st... important do remember to separate the father from the clan oh... jus leave the pups and mom...
if not then after 3 week got the other batch again... if u wan like that can, but then the mom wont sufficient to support the coming batch...

latest update => the smallest pup din make it... i cant find him anywhere in the tank... must be cannibalised by mom d lo... yucks!

i keep the dad in a separate tank d.. n always take the male pups to play2 wif him twice n sumtimes thrice a day... so lonely ma... but going to put all the males separate from mom n daughter by dis monday... hehe..

so the two pups left is a black n a agouti!!!! haha black again lo!!! so i can have 2 black in my clan if all goes well... dunno bout the sex yet.. the bigger size pup is the black.. the normal size is agouti but still not very sure.. my fren says it's a black too... hehe anyway, hopes dat they will make it!!! so can have many2 gerbils!!! hehe

I did it once, but the lil pup died.

Found petshack last sunday... and bought prestige, britter bunny and vege power..... hopefully my gerbils will benefit from them.....
Only thing is they don't really like the vege power.... only my male rat like it so much....

Added on May 26, 2008, 3:35 pmabang brother, I'm newbie but have two clutch so far.... before gerbils, I breed mice.... from my very little experience, we human like to interfere a lot... what I mean is, we keep checking them, relocate them, clean their nest and so forth without realizing that we actually do more harm than help....

For example, my first clutch of 5 pinkies, one look very fragile and look like dying.... so I always pick the baby up and put it with the mother.... at one time I couldn't see the pinky... and I thought it already dead, because already 2 weeks cannot see.... so I gave up on her....

But after weeks, all five jumping around very healthy.... Like other said, just make sure the parents get all the nutrition and sure enough the babies will be healthy.... my 2 cents

yaya, some of the gerbils dun like the vege powder, since they not vege type one.

yaya, the thing is that u need to monitor it, no matter is the mother or the pups...
for mother u need to check whether she have to sufficient nutrition and energy to take care the batch of pups.
then for the pups, u need to check whether they get to nutrition they need..

masculine, how much u buy the organic vege powder??? i wanna budget again... no money liao.. aiyo

btw, the 2 black pups are doing well... last nite, suddenly the mom wanna declan the female pup staying with her.. haih... i have to like watched them for 2 hours n try to make them a clan again by putting more toys in order to make mom forget about attacking the female pup from 1st litter.. luckily all ends well...

how do i put my gerbils with other ppl gerbils? i plan to get 2 gerbil from my fren. will they fight when i put them together?

how u give the vege powder? roll it to ball? or mix with their food?

nezu, wat i meant was, i have 2 gerbils now. i want to add 2 more into the tank. my tank is big enough for 3-4 gerbils. big storage box. well, the problem is, i am afraid that if i just dump the 2 new gerbil into the tank, they will fight. how do i put those 2 new gerbils without causing much problem?

Jon, nezu ask to refer in 1st page on split cage method... or maybe a cage in ur storage bin... then switch places for both new and old gerbils.. to get them used to the new and old scents... only put bedding, food and water bottle on both side... no toys.. let them concentrate more on accepting each other k... good luck..

Do moms really attack their own pup? That is strange... I saw that the pups everywhere and always thought that they are abandoned by moms but actually otherwise..... My pups always scattered all over because when mom move while milking, pup still holding on to nipple....

I thought I have only 3 pinkies... yesterday found another one... because 3 always at one place but another one, mom hide another place... all grow hair already.... 2 black, 1 nutmeg and 1 lilac.... all looks very healthy...


I roll it to ball and try to feed all my rodents.... gerbils, mice and rats.... not many of them like it....

JonYeap, never never do that, sure gerbil war .... they will fight till geath ... they actually can gang up and fight their enemy.

Please refer to PAGE 1 POST #4 INTRODUCTION & SPLIT CAGE PART.DON'T SIMPLY JUST DUMP new comers to your current tank. It's either your boys/girls die or the new comers die. They will fight like nobody busy. Trust me.. I have seen they fight & I don't wish to see that again. Please follow the instruction if you wish to introduce new gerbils to your tank.
