Hi, i got 2 new gerbils from a friend... They are a Light DEH and a Nutmeg. Both females.

Is this a DEH or Light DEH?
= white belly, lightish sand colour, a bit ticking, dark nails, black eyes




N the nutmeg
= the left hind leg got broken when she's a pup.. so have to really care for her.. can i still breed her?

It looks DEH to me..... Might be light DEH cause my DEH is slightly darker.

My Spotted black stop bleeding when i got back home yesterday. The wound dried up and i apply some cream just to disinfect the wound.....

What a hectic week for me and my gerbils.....

may use abit more, but it can last u longer.. less wash and no ordor AT ALL. so cut ur workmanship n water bill LOL... = cheaper.

yes u need to wrape them very tight with a cloth, make sure their hands canot come out. push their upper lip up, use a small nail clip to clip it. make sure don't cut their lip or tongue.

congrate for ur new gerbil. for me. i don't simply claim my gerbils color unless i comfirm their genetic. Lt DEH need a ch gene. and ch gene is not that common in the market. How to pass a ch gene to a DEH? u need to breed a DEH ee gene with a ch carrier who also carry a Ee or ee gene, which will be super hard to get. then only u can have a Lt DEH. if start from 1st point. u will need it will need totally in 3 breeding pair n 3 generations.

a bad DEH can be light in color also. but we canot claim it as Lt DEH.

if ur nutmeg and deh is sibling. if there is Lt DEH, there must have Lt Nutmeg. in my hand there are no comfirm Lt DEH here yet.

but how u know ur agouti is Lt Agouti?

Ermm, i bought a pair from mid valley.. Both r agoutis.. Male : Dark Agouti, Female : Normal Agouti.. From their fur appearance..

Then when they have their first batch, there r 3 agouti n 1 black.. Now they r 4 months plus, 2 of the agouti colours like their mom, the other got more brownish fur than grays n tickings.. u can tell he is slightly lighter agouti..

Do i have to prove him by breeding to see the results from his litter? Is this the correct way to determine his genes too..??

hehehheheh.. u are in a totoly wrong tract...

so many pups how u gonna breed them to test? breed every single one? canot be right...

never simply just claim its Lt, Lt = ch gene. if u want to prove that, u need to breed him/her with a chch gerbil. then u can comfirm is ur agouti is carrying a ch gene. if u pair with a Cch gerbil.. u will hv to test for a few litter to so call comfirm his/her gene. cos u never know if the 'prove' pup is not out yet.

again.. pairing ur deh n agouti = will only give u more agouti n black.. unless u ur agouti is carrying Ee gene. means either one of his parents are a ee carrier.

the color lighter or darker of a gerbil, can be effect on nutrition, genetic (color tone from parents), and their recessive gene.

That's why i dont like petshop like PW!! They cant tell u gerbil genetics at all!! N they have no idea bout genetics too!!

Wanna buy from home breeder but all sold out d.. Or some stop their breeding program d..

Muahahahaha... I use 1 pack of 6 liter BC for my 2ft tank & I still feel like the bedding is not thick enough. But depends on how thick you prefer for them.

yes LC-Vit is very good there is an other one coat shine also.. ur gerbil will give u nice nice fur...

if want to learn genetics, best to start from scratch and read up on mendelian inheritance and how to use the punnet square.
