Tekken 6 On Xbox 360 Is Highly Probable


Tekken 6 will be hitting the Playstation 3 in 2008. Tekken has always been a Playstation only series since day one. Even the first Tekken was developed on the PS1 arcade board. Namco followed suit with every game in the series including 6, which is being developed on PS3 arcade hardware. Another series that was Playstation only was the Ace Combat series. Ace Combat 6 is now a 360 exclusive. Does Namco have reason to bring Tekken 6 to the 360? Read on for the facts.

We've already seen proof that it's easy to port any game over to the 360. AM2 did just that with Virtua Fighter 5 which is graphically identical to it's PS3 cousin. So porting Tekken 6 over wouldn't be a difficult task. It's all a matter of whether or not putting Tekken 6 on the 360 makes sense financially.

Halo 3 sales opened the eyes of a lot of game publishers. You can't deny that they want a piece of the Halo pie. The 360 attach rate is higher in Japan than it is for the PS3. It's 3.6 games per system on the 360 versus 1.7 games per system on the PS3. With an attach rate so high it's almost a no brainer to greenlight games on the 360. It's why Ridge Racer, Beautiful Katamari and Ace Combat 6 are already on the 360.

The next thing it comes down to is whether or not 3D fighting games are still good sellers. Well we know they sell in the US, but in Japan it's quite different. To everyone's surprise, Virtua Fighter 5 moved only 82,000 copies total in Japan. That's pretty sad considering Virtua Fighter 2 broke 1 million+ and the acclaimed worst game in the series, Virtua Fighter 3TB moved 365,000 copies. Attach rate is a big deciding factor. It's probably what made Sega put Virtua Fighter 5 on the 360 in the first place.

Japanese publishers are highly interested in the western market these days. In order to sell their IP's to a worldwide market, they must be more open to system diversity. You cannot ignore a combined 360/PS3 userbase of 18 million. The possibility of Tekken 6 coming out on the 360 is very high given the current state of gaming. We won't know for sure until next year so for now, enjoy Katamari and AC6.

This kinda reminds of the very early days of Saturn and PlayStation. Both platforms were privy to quite a few dual platform games. Some games were equally terrific (Street Fighter Zero 1&2) while others had extra features on one system (Battle Arena Toshinden Remix). I haven't seen this kind of multi platform release for a long, long time. Though it's still mind boggling. Tekken on a non-PlayStation console? Oh please. Next you're going to be telling me of a Virtua Fighter game on a non SEGA console? When pigs fly... Wait, what are those flying things!?

i tot virtua fighter is released on both ps3 and x360 quite a long time ago already.

Ah, i like to see SF4 as a 3d fighter, though the limitations is there. I'm old fashioned. I think 2D is still in colored sprites.

but nonetheless, this is great news indeed. wud definitely be a marvel playing live with this.

Hori stick FTW!! Been playing Soul Calibur IV and Virtua Fighter 5 on it. I thought I was already used to playing with the 360 controller on VF5. But man, the Hori stick is much more precise. Before, if I couldn't nail Goh's 270 degree command throw, it's the controller's fault. Now, I can pull it off 100% of the time. No regrets buying the stick.

Wooohooo tekken 6 on xbox360??? Yeahooo, I remembered I bought the PS2 just for Tekken, when it was freaking expensive.

Yup , its actually not about the graphics . SF4 is 2D , no side-step , but that's actually the good thing as it remains on the root .

Gamer's Hideout was bringing in these arcade sticks a while back. I bought it for RM270. Not exactly small change, but the sticks are pretty much using arcade parts, and is literally the closest you can get to an arcade stick. Most of my RM100+ joysticks pale in comparison. Hori keeps bringing in new versions of the Hori Fighting stick when a new fighting game launches, so expect a Tekken 6 and a Street Fighter IV stick from them soon. i might get the hori stick,because for tekken(specifically tekken,soul calibur and virtua fighter are just fine),i feel the xbox controller just doesn't cut it.
i'm more used to the arcade controller.

Ooh, my bad. It's not exactly like the broken sticks I had to put up with at Sg Wang arcades back then. I play a very good Paul, so I just decided to test my luck at the arcades. There's one particular machine in Sg Wang where the 1st player's joystick is sunken in. You have to literally pull out the joystick and keep it help up while playing. Otherwise, any inputs are not recognized. Probably after seeing my feeble attempts at playing Tekken 5, a kid decided to challenge me with Christie. I bet the kid must be feeling good about himself after beating a player who's not barely fighting back...

So yeah. I'm terribly sorry if I raised anyone's expectations regarding the Hori Fighting stick. As it is, it's a very good input device for fighting games, but it lacks the authentic broken arcade stick feel. My apologies

I'm not surprised for Tekken 6 to come out for Xbox 360 seeing how things has been turn out this generation.

I'm kinda happy as I previously owned a PS3 before selling it and got a Xbox360 which seems to be a good choice for me now mainly because more and more games I wanted to play is on Xbox360. Tekken 6 coming out in Fall 2009 isn't that bad as there's Street Fighter 4 and of course other goodies to keep us company.

street fighter 4 nt certain 360 will get or nt? since dmc4 capcom already go multiplatform i guess sf4 will also be multi platform,sakit......sakit ps3 no more king of the consoles.

SF4 was already mentioned as multi-platform release since day 1 . Why sakit ? Its not like you're somehow related to Sony . It's a win-win situation I say .
