Guys im looking at perdana/accordana that looks like accord gen8 and also the perdana 2016 which basically the same engine. Just want to ask is it a reliable car, easy to maintain and what should i look at buying it used.

I know one common issue is the steering rack. How to take care of this. Like go and refurbish it every 2 years?

This model steering rack got issue ka? I only know of its whining power steering pump, but this is due to the PS fluid reservoir. Also heard of PS hose leaking. I thought this is common for both gen7 and gen8.

Its a rebadged Honda Accord, what could go wrong?
Should be easy to find Honda parts

Dont know why its not that popular compared to the older Perdana V6 when its the same concept; Rebadged Mitsubishi Eterna v6 and now a Honda Accord.

Mine no need to overhaul, far from it. Basically the bloody ps botol/reservoir doesn't like dirty/old power steering fluid (psf).

When the filter mesh at the bottom of the botol gets too dirty and/or the whine gets more frequent despite new fluid (due to psf flow restriction, hence the cavitation/whining/aeroplane noise), I just changed it to an "updated/improved" version botol, Thai-made though and the whine ceased for 5yrs already.

Original botol from jpn has metal mesh at the botol, while the thai made has plastic mesh with coarser holes.

As for ps hose leak, I solved it by adding just a little (<>10-15ml) AT205 with the psf. No more leaks for 6yrs already. This AT205 also stopped leaks on my wira ps pump shaft seal and hose. Neat stuff.

Mileage around 330k now, no much problems (touch wood) besides those wear and tear parts.

Recently can see some oil around the engine/gearbox area. SC said need to change some seals/gaskets which will cost around RM2-3k and need to leave the car there for a few days. Still arranging for my time to drop by.

Engine mounting also worn out already as can feel some vibration when the engine is running. This will cost another 2-3k, still considering if want to change it together with the change of the seals/gaskets as above.

Also once after driving for about 4 hours outstation trip, can hear some "whining" sound from around the gearbox area. Since it only happened once, not really able to identify the problem. Any sifu here got experience in this issue?

Thanks

The only "complaint" is that the car (2.0 one) only comes with 2 airbags and without VSC/VSA.

Sounds bulletproof. Looking at proton perdana because of newer manufacture year.

Interior is quite outdated.
Can consider Gen 9 prefacelift if budget allows.

To me ok considering more than a decade.. tapi the 2.0 all black seat. 2.4 is cream leather. Looks ugly after 4 years. Im speaking on perdana accord base and perdana all new. Somehow they make both 2.0 n 2.4 leather. But 2.0 all black leather. Accord based model is fabric. Prefer the accordana. Clean interior.
