Have and using one right now. A bit slow at keypad for SMS, unlike any other Nokia Model.

When connecting to a PC, the phone have USB Ethernet Emulation, that connect to your PC at 10mbps. Set the [Phone as Modem] in USB Mode settings. Or you could surf through e.g. [Celcom 3G] at WinXP's Network Connections. Or via the SE PC Suite.

Setting wizard like those in N95, make your GPRS, MMS, 3G settings a breeze.

Nice thing is the RSS is at the main screen, and could scroll view the RSS through Ticker.

The screen goes totally black while at standby, unlike N95. Maybe that's make the phone could standby up to 14 days (stated in the manual).

The phone could access Youtube through NetFront browser with no problem; with N95, you have to upgrade to latest firmware, or use Mobitubia.

Fast for the music startup, unlike N95.

SE PC Suite handle contacts faster than Nokia PC Suites (with N95). The contacts stored in MDB file (just like Huawei E220), not VCF like N95.

k660i vs Nokia N95
k660i  Pro
* recharge though USB
* USB Ethernet emulation
* cheap HSDPA phone as HSDPA MODEM
* Bluetooth Remote Control - [ DESKTOP, PRESENTER, MediaPlayer] (N95 could to this via some utility)
* RSS - scheduled update, ticker at main screen

k660i Con
* 2MP with no autofocus and no flash (get the W series)
* weird keypad for a nokia fan
* Not a symbian UIQ
*

Compared to Huawei E220 and Nokia N95, so far it is much better.
- when u use N95, the USB cable do not function as cable charger. You then have two cable danging to the N95.
- when u use Huawei E220, the USB cable kinda short, unlike the cable supplied with k660i
- with k660i (and N95) , you have option to use BT

In terms of reception with telco's signal, this depends where u live. In the same location I live, Huawei is the best, second k660i, and last N95 sad.gif.

Maxis broadband, much better than Celcom, based on the places that I have been.

The Location Services of k660i have Google Maps on which using the cellsites triangulation. It will give message like [My current location to within 1700 meters].

It support GPS accessory.

With Nokia N95 and Huawei E220, you could force the devices to stick with 3G, or GSM mode. Unfortunately with k660i, it only have to modes: [GSM only] and [GSM and 3G]

BT with Powersave off:

google maps using gprs/3g rite?

hmm.gif hope the newer FW will allow GSM only/GSM and 3G/3G and HSDPA laugh.gif

(previous K850i FW did provide HSDPA mode hmm.gif )

Google Maps need data connection to download maps.

With Nokia Maps, you could pre-upload region maps, using USB or BT.

Google Mobile Maps PinPoints Your Location Without GPS

I think it is considered cheap, compared with the all the features.
Found something like, to set 3G only:
Setting -> Connectivity -> Mobile Networks -> Preferred Network - Options - GSM/3G networks ->
GSM and 3G
GSM Only
3G Only

But it still pick up GSM when no 3G is found
*
good to know there is such 3G only selection thumbup.gif
hmm.gif but...seem like either the feature bug, or SE 3G only option will hunt for alternative signal

QUOTE(nicopatch @ May 8 2008, 03:29 AM)
I bought k660i, because I like to use it as HSDPA modem for my Asus EEE 701. So far , it works nicely through BT.

For SMS, you could type faster with Nokia 1200, than SE k660i or Nokia N95.
*
using D68 or D98 package?? have u ever bittorrent with ur K660i modem? if yes, how the battery life can last u? (connected via cable)

Never use P2P with Celcom Broadband. But I suggest you use BT rather than USB, SE k660i will suck up power from connected PC.

(having notebook eliminates the needs of extra power pack)
---
While using Celcom Broadband with a PC, k660i as modem, whenever the connection changed from 3G to GSM, the established connection also disconnected. So frustrating.

---

You could connect, surf internet from your phone via PC internet connection. Select the SE USB Ethernet icon and your computer NIC icon in Windows XP Network Connections, bridge it. Set the [USB network type] setting in your k660i  , [via Computer].    You could install application e.g. Maybank M2U, etc. using this method.

biggrin.gif how ur K660i after being using couple weeks? any bugs found yet?

err.. as a long time SE and dual phone N series Nokia user now..
maybe you can also put some extra points or compare to newer N82 also  biggrin.gif

A-GPS (SE K660 dun think have right?)
can install programs on SE?
M2 vs MicroSD, which one cheaper for 2-8GB?
got xenon flash? N82 got.
SE 5MP (from K850, so K660 no need to compare also) even lose to Nokia N95 5MP photo quality (which should be similar to N82 - exc xenon flash mode) (confirmed fact)
*
wah..can't compare with n82 la.. biggrin.gif

tongue.gif wait for G502 out only get this k660i (if needed 3g/hsdpa) modem icon_idea.gif

Smartphone is good on multitasking & more 3rd party program supported. But slow, virus & hang/reboot make me stay away to choose simple feature phone smile.gif

still waiting for more functions on 'tweak' 3g/hsdpa from SE biggrin.gif

Location services (Google Maps) works better with Celcom, compared with Maxis. Maxis sometime put me in the middle of ocean, or in the middle of streets. With Celcom, the given location do not changed if I am at a location, and tried the service from time to time, but with Maxis, the location changing, if I do it today, tomorrow, yesterday, for a same location.

Netaccess browser have problem to open maybank2u.com , but with my N95, it open OK. From http://developer.sonyericsson.com/site/glo...k660/p_k660.jsp , it support Flash Lite 2.0, and more.

I kinda have problem to download J2ME apps, e.g. Maybank M2U, or any other downloads, [when used with Celcom Broadband].

Maxis unlimited data plan (RM99) works much better, compared to Celcom Broadband (RM98); [when used with this phone, directly].

k660i have problem opening large web page, e.g. http://www.intomobile.com . Most probably because of limited RAM. Might get Nokia N95 8GB (128MB ram) to see the differences.

I've managed to get it hang somehow when connecting and disconnecting it with PC via USB.

rclxms.gif wow..nice review base on your usage.

its feature phone, built in NetFront still quite a lots limitation. as long the phone serve your purpose is good enough wink.gif

if the power not enough...can buy the cst 75 charger...can charge while connecting usb  icon_idea.gif
*
hmm.gif IMO its nothing much different, since the CST75 charging around 500mA too, same with pc/laptop's USB mA power delivery

QUOTE(kepet @ Jun 30 2008, 10:34 PM)
just bought it few days ago..try the googlemaps service while driving - my location change accordingly while travel - like mini GPS smile.gif

online - i think fair enuff for this budget phone

sound - better than some N series

just curious because my brother old SE phone firmware (K series) has been upgraded with Walkman firmware.. It just after the upgrade, the sound is louder than original state and the speaker start buzzing when a sound is played.

sorry bro, still noob with SE phones because my current and 3 past phones is Nokia.
*
obviously the volume controlled by the default software. but, louder doesn't mean 100% clear & crisp quality right? tongue.gif
