Hi everyone, if you work in IT programming, especially C#.net, do you mind to share with me how difficult to get a job offer if you are over 40yo notworthy.gif

I have been working oversea for 10 years, due to personally issue, I am thinking to return to Malaysia for new start, since I am leaving for some times. I not sure how well Malaysia companies accepts veteran software developer. Not sure will it be like China, companies will not hire over 35yo programmer. thank you for you input. notworthy.gif

I guess the real question is that do you want to still be a developer and stay in the programming role? Or do you want to take on more lead roles like development lead, DevOps manager and many more. Those lead or managerial roles have a better chance for you to join for someone over 40yo. Otherwise the other alternative would be the MNC tech companies as they don't discriminate based on age. You would need to find a suitable role that fits your skillset and what you can bring to the table.

Which is why I did ask you to look at the international companies. Just last month I hired two tech guys who were above 40yo for my team.

Should go for an engineering lead role where you wont be hands-on so much in coding, but manage a team of programmers. See Bjak, carsome or even grab
