It should be 2 - 3 times of your salary but not everyone applied for a credit card using salary slip. Some got pre-approved complimentary Platinum credit card from their banks and the credit line usually is pretty high.

The maximum credit line for each Platinum series credit card brand is RM300,000. For instance you have a Platinum VISA and Mastercard Platinum, both issued by Hong Leong Bank. The maximum credit line possible is RM300,000 per card brand. Assume that Hong Leong Bank gives you the maximum credit line possible for your both Platinum VISA and Mastercard, your total combined limit from Hong Leong Bank for your credit cards is RM600,000.
Yes. Not pre-set spending limit that is.
Oh ... how so ? I can't apply for a AMEX Gold credit card now. Have to wait till August next year. Still a long time to go but i'm 99.99% sure i'll still be interested in this card then.

Is it because the 0% finance charge will be over then ?

600K CL is so cool, but who will spend so much?

Why you need to wait until next year august to apply? Even got reject can still reapply in 6 months time right?

After 6 months maybe i have other CC in my wallet already. So not intend to thicken my wallet with extra card. laugh.gif

Many actually. Such as Yeoh Tiong Lay's grandchildren, Robert Kuok's children just to name a few laugh.gif

Because my credit card is brand new and i need to wait till it is 1 year old before i can use it to apply for other banks' credit cards.

The perks associated with the AMEX Gold are very enticing. I am so getting that card next year tongue.gif

Just so you know, i was a AMEX personal charge card user (supplementary given by mom) but she is going to cancel it as soon as she receives the bill for September because she doesn't want to deal with anything related to credit card/charge card anymore. Since i am now eligible for a credit card, she asked me to go get it which i did and i got 2 now. Going to use that to apply for AMEX Gold credit card next year.

I tried to use my Maybank Amex on last weekend (to be specific, last Saturday in Penang) in Jusco and BHP petrol station... Both transaction were failed... tried with my Amex sup card also the same (so confirmed my first amex card is in good condition)... both transactions have no issue with my Citibank Visa.

Called Maybank Amex CS, no issue on my account (very healthy... according to the CS smile.gif)... no rejected transaction in the system as well. they said properly due to line issue.

Wondering did anybody face the same issue as well? If it's line issue, then this should affect everyone...

Is this kind of issue happen very frequent? I've just started to use Maybank Amex since last month due to it's good rewarding point.

Also notice that Amex is still not very popular in Malaysia... only those big merchants accept it!

Seems like machine no longer accept the AMEX? Or just the credit card merchant temporary down? Hard to believe Macbook reseller can't accept Amex, since Apple is from US...

The usual true reason is Amex charge merchant higher. Each RM1k = RM10 more. If 10k=RM100 extra profit gone. Best is the merchant will ask you pay cash on the spot. doh.gif

Try complain to Apple and get their disti terminated. thumbup.gif

To MBB Amex Gold CC owner, did you receive paper statement even you have specified you do not want it? Will bank charge us RM5 for this?
I recalled someone asked this before but don't think I see any proper reply to this.

Also I noticed points distribution in my statement is not correct. Following are my spendings:
- RM51.10 petrol
- RM29.35 tesco

But in statement state:
MR Points earned: 80
Amex Bonus points: 80
Petrol: 153
Tesco: 88

Total: 402

Quite confused with break down of the points. why not they make it:
petrol: 252
tesco: 150

Thanks.

FYI, Jasco shd be no problem accepting Amex. The jasco Wangsa Maju is using MBB.

btw, BHP is not accepting Amex based on my experience with my nearest BHP station at my place.

Isn't the above correct?

You spent around RM80, so that's the regular MR points.
The Amex bonus relates to the 2x points for all transactions
Then to reach 5x on petrol/groceries, you get another 3x on petrol/groceries.

Thanks bro, this makes sense now... guess their way of breaking down the points might confuse first time user sweat.gif or maybe I'm too bad in math tongue.gif

Btw, do you receive paper statement from Amex even you have opted for e-statement?

Haha no worries, I think I just figured it out when you laid it out like that. Did look a lil weird when I just briefly glanced at the statement initally =p

Yea, I received the paper statement although I didn't opt for it (since they were saying they're gonna charge rm5). Till now no charges on it, but like you I'm worried they eventually do.

Hi bro... no worry, you're not alone here. I was confused too when i read the bill for the first time... I think this way is easier for Maybank to revise the reward scheme in future...

I haven't received neither paper nor email statement yet... but, i was not opt for paper statement in my application so they should not charge me for that smile.gif

However, i start to love my Maybank Amex now... much better rebate/reward scheme... it's about 2.3% cash rebate for me this month (of course, redeem my reward point at 200 point/RM1). Too bad that Amex is not popular in malaysia.

Yes, no issue to use Amex in most of the famous super store... the issue only happened on last weekend.

thanks for the info that BHP doesn't accept Amex... all the while, i thought all the petrol station should accept all kind of credit/charge card

Based on 200MR = RM1 the exact rebate should be 2.5% for petrol, supermarket and bookstore transaction (**selected). All other transactions will earn you 1% cash back.

I'm calculating my rebate rate base on total redeemable point vs my monthly expenses or what I've actually spent vs i got... again, this doesn't meant your calculation is incorrect...

Basically ks98's calculations shows the average, for total spending. so you would have used the card for non petrol/groceries purchases, but that would be minimal (since ur average is still 2.3%)

But yea, 1 point is generally worth half a cent, or 0.5%

AMEX Thread already 120 pages! Don't know when can this thread become V2, as credit card thread already dunno which version already.

Anyway, looking at AMEX catalogue, the point is very high for redemption, most of them are 50K+, the only I can redeem is voucher or cash rebate sad.gif
