Seem like AMEX Gold Credit Card is good that they have 0% finance charges until Dec 2009 and subsequently is 9% p.a... thinking to apply lo....

But can we apply through Maybank2u.com? I am lazy to submit form again
*
Download form below if too lazy go to branch to get one

Just call up Maybank at 603-22958877 which is their sales department and they would be more than happy to assist you.

@Aeon_Clock,
I believe the Maybank American Express Credit Card (Gold & Classic) is the one with the fugly Maybankard logo at the top of the card. That one gives U TP instead of MR.

@air,
U'll be surprised more and more merchants are beginning to accept Amex. Yes it's still not as widely accepted as Visa & Mastercard and merchants definitely prefer those cards over Amex but muAHahAHah I always insist to say I've nothing else but Amex tongue.gif

U can also use Amex to purchase from Dell & AirAsia. Am not sure what else U mean by online transactions. I've had no problems using my Amex when I paid for my rapidshare, megaupload + filefactory accounts tongue.gif

Yea same as you, I am the AMEX supporter too even though my first card is not AMEX(but citibank)
Hehe waiting for my AMEX charge card either by this friday or next monday...

The online transaction I refer is those billings by credit card based on servicing account.

Swt all the service you indicated is available for worldwide, no wonder they accept AMEX lolz...

@air,
I only shifted to Amex for the first time in Jul 2008 and have remained as loyal to them as possible; I still use Citibank as my secondary CC but am probably gonna shift the spending over to SCB VI depending on whether I can pay Utility bills online; haven't had the time to check out their online banking just yet.

Also, I don't quite get what U mean by "billings by CC based on servicing account" - MAS/FireFly does NOT accept Amex.

I only use my CIMB Mastercard for online transaction. For example, when booking flight tickets on MAS or place orders for DVD on Amazon.com. I also use it to pay for my TM fixed line and TM Streamyx bills via www.tmonline.com.my.

My AMEX Green Charge Card is actually my primary card. The restaurants i frequent all accept AMEX. The major bookstores also accept AMEX (except Popular and Harris). I also use my AMEX Green Charge Card to pump fuel at SHELL. I rarely use my CIMB Mastercard now. Every month i have to pay a few hundred Ringgit only to CIMB and a few THOUSANDS Ringgit to AMEX laugh.gif

MAS do accept AMEX but only for international travel. What a stupid policy vmad.gif

try calling up Maybank and ask if they have an application form they can fax or send to u by email.

but I think it'll be nicer if you can find a Maybank agent here and apply with them. They can get the commission u know smile.gif

@tinkerbell,

I suppose as long as SCB VI card under VISA, it can be used to pay utilities bills online rite?

The servicing account I meant here is, eg: Maxis account(phone or internet), you log in and pay bills online, there are only two option can be chosen: VISA or MASTERCARD. For AMEX charge card, the agent suggested me making a customized payee for the bills with Maybank so that I can use my charge card to pay(not sure it works though).

Added on July 30, 2009, 2:17 pm@MilesAndMore,

Thanks for the info, I guess I just use the AMEX charge card for my regular bills while I using Citibank credit card for other transactions, as AMEX Gold credit card is not accepted among most of the IT gadgets merchant.

Just phoned Citibank to upgrade mine to Gold credit card lolz...

@air,
I think for bill payment it also depends on the bank not just Visa/Mastercard cause I intend to do online bill payment; am currently using Citibank.

In order for U to make payment for Utilities (Telekom/TNB) U will need to register for Auto ExpressPay - it is similar to direct debit lah. It's not something I want to do cause I have this habit of checking my bill at the end of the month. I rather waste a couple of minutes doing manual payment than having to chase these offices to give me refund tongue.gif

This is the first time I am reading someone mentioning HLB AMEX. One thing good about HLB cards is that they provide RM300,000 PA for ground when overseas when you purchase air ticket using HLB card. And the rate for overseas transaction is 2% vs AMEX's AMEX 2.5%

AF for HLB AF, only mentioned AMEX Plat RM800. Click below:

If you are using SCB online banking you can pay all those utilities with no problem. For me I am using JustOne card, I always pay my utilities bill on Friday where I earn 5% rebate. Now all my bills payments are done through SCB internet banking. biggrin.gif

SCB state the minimum income per year is RM40k. I do not know what you mean the real minimum.
