amex  plat charge card and amex plat credit card is under same customer service dept.

I didn't realize Amex had a credit card aside from the one MBB offers, so I browsed around the American Express website a little bit. I guess Amex in Malaysia has different cards from the US ones. The only credit card from Amex available in the US is the Blue card, the rest are standard charge cards.

Me, I'm happily using my green Amex charge card for many many years already. I don't travel enough and can't justify spending the $450 for a Platinum card

Not really. In the US, besides the Blue credit card (which is also offered in Singapore), there are Delta Airlines SkyMiles Gold, Preferred Gold, Business Gold and Platinum AMEX.

By the way, an American friend of mine told me there is no annual for the AMEX Platinum credit card in US. I didn't believe at first. So i checked its website and my friend apparently wasn't bullshitting. So i think i will only get an AMEX card when i go to US next year 

The annual fee for the Amex platinum charge card is $450 in the US and as far as I know the platinum charge card fee cannot be waived.

I am a little confused about the requirements now as I talked to a few agents and all of them say differently.

Basically they mentioned need to have EA form whereas some say if you have EPF statement, you need not include the EA form and some say need at least 10k credit limit in another type of credit card as a proof.

Actually to those that managed to apply the charge card, what documents you submitted?

Please elaborate, is this for your new Plat Amex CC or for Charge Card? Need to enroll?

Recently i have been swiping my citibank visa as got 8X rewards points but if not mistaken it is based on average. Still prefer Amex previous 2X for whatever purchase. Already redeemed all my Amex points, if got 3X reward points, i starting swiping using Amex again

1. Do I get Membership Rewards or Treat Points?
2. Do I need to pay to get Membership Rewards?
3. Can the Annual fee be waived?
4. Is there a way to check transactions online?

I'm aiming for the Gold card.

Dozz, i just checked my statement and called AMEX, i did get 2x reward points for last month statement   Also i just called AMEX to enrol in Turbo Reward Points which cost me RM50, with Turbo Reward, we get 3X reward points.

The customer service guy told me that the Turbo Reward Points will expire once I reach 200,000 points.

Looks like i be using my AMEX more often now instead of just using it at Mobil/Esso.

Dozz, i just got Amex Choices newsletter, the 3x turbo reward ends March 31 2009 or 200000 points whichever earlier.

and get 2x reward points too 
I always hear people say above. I have no problems using my Amex, it can be used at all Dept Stores/Hypermarket, Petrol Stations, Hotels, Restaurants, branded clothing stores, electronic/electrical stores and most shops at 1U/Midvalley and even at night spots. Years ago, when i was studying in US, i even bought my car using Amex! Even Dell accept Amex FYI. And if the shop don't accept Amex, you got CC what.

Seriously with 2X reward points and earning points for pumping petrol, AMEX is the way to go if you do not need credit facility i.e. credit card.

If you go compare reward points for redemption, Amex is the best. Only 2 months ago redeem RM340 food vouchers, going to redeem another RM300 Dome and TGIF vouchers next week

Since the 2x reward points was extended (i have subsequently enroll for turbo), i have been using Amex for almost all my transactions; and i have UOB, HLB, HSBC, Alliance & DA platinum CC and 2 normal CC which is just taking up space in my wallet so i leave a few in my drawer. Amex is the only card i can't leave home without

I have a few questions about AMEX Charge Card and AMEX Platinum Credit Card.

1. If i have no intention to convert my "membership rewards points" to frequent flyer miles, does it mean i do not have to enroll in the frequent traveler option, which has an annual fee of RM50 inclusive of non-frequent traveler option ?

2. Does it mean no "membership rewards points" for me if i did not enroll in the non-frequent traveler option which cost RM25/pa ?

3. Can the annual fee of the AMEX Platinum Credit Card be waived ? I know you guys have said it cannot be waived but in other countries, the annual fee of AMEX Platinum CREDIT CARD actually can be waived. Only the AMEX Platinum CHARGE CARD can't.

Hi, recently i applied for an amex card via maybank.
Do they ALWAYS come with 2 cards?

Or maybank just like doing that? (I applied for a gold card earlier last year and i got two cards as well)

Now i have to cancel two cards. haih. or maybe i should just let it expire on its own.

The new AMEX Singapore Airlines Gold Credit Card is suitable for you only if you're a frequent flyer on Singapore Airlines.

Please bear in mind that the annual fee for this card cannot be waived. The first year is waived but you'll need to pay for the subsequent year. Anyways, most of the holders are of this card are businessmen, i'm sure they don't mind. And by the way, this is NOT the card for you if you don't fly often with SIA.
