u need to install Alipay international version, link a couple of CC to it because sometimes sot and one bank block the transaction, you can use another one..happened to me once when i was riding the subway in Beijing a few months ago

for public transport, make sure your alipay after initial setup (register passport, etc.), change the region to Guangzhou and select "transport" in the main page. from there, register for the guangzhou subway metro card, it's free. once you can see the QR code, you are good to go for train. do the same for bus.

for maps, if can read chinese, Amap is my go to app..everything from planning, ride hailing, etc.

for bike, you want both alipay and meituan app..alipay (blue bike) tend to be cheaper from my experience
