MAS have been profitable recently

And the profits are massive, in the region of hundreds of millions, mind you

Their ticket prices haven't increased exponentially

It's not really hard to work out where the profit came from

Or should I say which aspect of the operation contributed 'more'

Kindly explain for someone not knowing the clues?

In short, a possibility of cost cutting in certain operational aspect for the airline.

Although the profitability increment can be attributed to ~50% increase in FY23/22, you can see that the on time performance dropped significantly from 84% > 72%; while profits are up hundreds of millions compared to a loss back in FY22.

On time performance can also be an indicator of flight delays attributable to maintenance issues.

Therefore would then suggest maintenance may have not been done on time or properly.

Which subsequently will highlight associated parallel consequences in TS's first post.

This January flew to Taipei, the information system was down.

Wanna ask, was your flight with A330?

I read news that A330-neo is about to be delivered

Wonder if the new A330's will replace these aging craft

Damn it's a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. Quiet literally when you don't maintain your fleet all it takes is one fuck up to cause a crash
*
Now its operating mainly for profit to payback the invested shareholders rather than flying as a flag carrier

Look at the international flights and the IFE, aircraft and service provided

Along with the deterioration of Enrich values

One can tell, MAS is getting really sucky in terms of services

To add with such concerns, I won't be surprised if anything like that happens

Yes, it was Airbus A330-300
*
Ah, well that's consistent with what I am expecting

Hopefully the coming batches of A330 is allocated to KUL-TPE

This is what I'm worried. Did MAS cheapen out on maintenance that leads to so many failure.
*
Yep, not surprised here, MAS is profitable now yes

But I am sure slowly and surely people will treat them like Low cost airline like how they are treating themselves right now

The only significant difference between MAS and Airasia its the status of Flag carrier that's all

QUOTE(Lanchio @ Aug 26 2024, 11:04 AM)
This is exactly what has been describe to me.

Group MD (ex CEO) was a pilot Captain who should know the hardship the ground crew & air crew are facing but being in management for so long, has lost his people touch & now purely management thinking.

One of the biggest problem is the MAS has too many highly paid chiefs & not enough ordinary workers (I wanted to write too many chiefs & not enough Indians but worry younger /k wont understand this idiom).
*
Again, not surprised here

The airline is mainly successful because they took many attributes of other low cost airlines

Dump on time performance, maximize profits

Therefore if their maintenance is DIRT POOR, they would not care as long as the headline is "MAS is profitable"

As a flag carrier, you have your flight options not to include sufficient check in luggages

As a flag carrier your on time performance is 72% and still dare to post about it in AR news release without action plan

As a flag carrier your reputation rot from once TOP in Asia or even globally, to now almost on par with Low Cost Airlines

what's wrong with IFE?

what with the hate of IFE removal for B788/78M?  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

it gave free wifi for their cloud service MH Studio...
*
IFE is outdated.

You charge a significant premium on this but give poor IFE as a flag carrier?

On top of that, if you say give Free Wifi for MH studio

What makes MAS so different than Airasia if Airasia can easily implement this?

And I just applied the ambank cc for enrich points. Dammit
*
Was considering about it too for the Enrich

Then I asked myself a bigger question

Would I want to sit MAS most of the time or not?

And my conclusion is only for a segment that I am interested in but haven't had the chance to try it out - One World Alliance

For its mainly - Qatar, Japan Airlines and Qantas only for their transfer points, but doesn't seem like its worth it also

Maybe I will ask in Enrich group instead as well

I honestly don't mind seeing how my sutera card removed alot of perks. This one at least as travel insurance and lounge access and cheaper flights. Not bad tbh and mas is too big to fail. This will all be fixed.
*
This is generally the hope for MAS

But it does not seem to be heading this direction at least not for the longest period of time

If you are using Enrich, I would suggest to take the usage to OneWorld instead, I am currently exploring to do so

Miles devaluation happened to other airlines like Cathay and SQ too. It is double whammy ie earning get less and redemption goes up.

I prefer to stack my points to Cathay as the flight redemption is more generous and available.
*
Have you managed to redeem Enrich Points > Cathay flights?

Mind sharing the steps?

So far I have not seen a clear guideline to do so and its interface is really poorly designed (MH website)

I don’t think it is possible to redeem Cathay flight using Enrich.

Cathay can redeem one world flight from their website and their customer support via WhatsApp is great (far better than Mh).

What I was saying earlier was  to earn my points in Cathay instead of enrich whenever I can.
*
I see.

Well, from the Enrich OneWorld, there are such option, not sure if its outdated though as it states Enrich MILES rather than POINTS.

I also remember seeing award charts somewhere but didn't find it yet.

Pretty sure enrich miles will not be able to redeem code share and other airline operating route

MH redemption is on revenue base instead of miles chart like what it used to be
*
I believe now was the case

Previously other forumers shared that they could do so via CS phone call

But that was 2 years ago

But regardless I will give it a go
