Getting Started

|
Hi all, I have a Norman B-18 acoustic and after 2++ years of playing 3 hours a day, the first 5 frets have worn down and i keep getting buzzing notes. Also, my friend's wedding is next month and I will be performing a song for her. That's why need to install a pickup, else nobody in the restaurant will be able to hear . I've checked the guitarstore, and they check RM15 per fret, but I'm not sure how is their workmanship... Pickups also they leave me confused with all the types available... Any recommendations for a good refreting and pickup installation service, my dear forumers?

how worn are the frets? got deep grooves? usually when refretting...its recommended to do the whole fretboard...
if the grooves are not deep...then it might be possible to just re-level... either way, bring it to tham so he can have a look.

as for the pickup thing, use a microphone. I like microphones better than those soundhole mounted pickups. Limits your mobility but i think it sounds better. Of course it also depends on a quality of the mic/pickup. Obviously a good pickup will sound better than a lousy mic. But comparing them at the same level, i'd go for a mic.
