But I want to ask those who stay in Penang, JB and Melaka alike…why do you stay in these lower Tiered 2 or 3 cities?

Is it because you are poor, not so smart, too old and lazy to compete?

JB and Georgetown can consider Tier 1 from their economy, living standard and population.

Less competition, easy to monopolize market
Easy to build connection and reputation with corporate clients
I employ freelancer/part timer as my staff and as per job basis.
Not much choice in talent, they can easily be trained,
they can be reliable most of the time, low pay (300-1000/day), high return (10-80k per job),
Once in a while I fly to KL for work, 2-3 times a year at least

Affordable landed property (i got the land by inheritance, build my own house), low cukai pintu
7 airconds, 1 deep freezer. All utility barely over RM500-800/month.
No Astro/Streaming. Internet 300MB most of the time

My house 6 rooms, 3 bathroom, dry and wet kitchen with pantry room,
2 living rooms (on both floors) + 1 small TV area, 1 large dining area

3 cars parking area + no gate, I ride kapcai most of the time for errands.
barely spend RM100-150/month for fuel for myself. RM50 (can last me almost 2 weeks)
Outstation is RM100 per round trip.

kampung life 16 km from city center.
Only 1 artery road is jammed during morning rush hour
everything I need is within 5 minutes drive except counter service banking and post office.

Beach is like 10 minutes away, multiple national parks to hike and climb is 15-30 minutes drive.
airport 30 minutes drive, can fly to SG/Jakarta direct cheaply.

Got monkeys, crocodile, snakes, sand flies and lizards everywhere.
Few times catch 2-3 meter croc in monsoon drain, one kid died eaten by one a few months ago
Not much mosquitos, flies or ants.

Little to no crime, most common is house break in/theft.
Got police patrol sometimes.
Got one rare case murder in my kampung in the past 6 years,
drug addict/mentally unstable killed his grandma with knife.
A lot of kids uses meth/ketamine as recreational but the numbers are too low to even notice.

i live in kampung. no tier whatsoever

maybe just me, but I think some people really overlook how living by farming can make better money than in the office. not to mention without traffic jam, no office politics. in the end of the day i feel more PUAS and contented than typical urban life.

even if you want to make money online, you can still get connected to unifi, tho not all kampung have that luxury, so starlink is your last resort.

You use agritech in your farming? Or just traditional labour intensive work? City folks won’t want to sweat under hot sun

i use tech, develop them and use it in-house.

agri not necessarily under hot sun. some plants grow under 50% shade like orchids or mushrooms, should be bearable.

or you can start early like 7am and work until 10am, then continue in late afternoon.

- no seasonal flood
- no wasting the most precious time in the world on the road (time)
- lower cost of living but earning tier 1 state salary
- able to own lands for farming/agriculture as lands are cheap here

Imagine waking up early in the morning and step out of the house with fresh cool breeze air, birds chirping, chicken running around and look around the trees/plants in your half acre house compound. Maybe because ayam like nature, so ayam love this kind of thing alot.

sori ya kl is big and dirty. Pudu wai sek kai , chee cheong kai and etc are really dirty, expensive, lousy food and messy full of poor people and rats. Shoplots are not well maintained and roads are very messy and confusing.

even the surrounding area of kl also are dirty.

pg and jb are so much a better place . clean, progressive and positive.

Everyday there are 400,000 people from Tier 3 city crossing into Tier 1 city to work everyday. Where else in the world can we find such unique city arrangement?

it a scam place. chicken rice rm 14. go wai sek kai chicken rice rm10. and etc. wai sek kai is the worst shit place ever. in pg famous chicken rice is only rm6. the portion is slightly smaller than kl . slightly.

that day i went to wai sek kai eat curry chee cheong fun. mcb the yong tau fu is like made 3 days ago and as hard as cardboard.

in term of cleanliness, wai sek kai and pudu are similar to philipines shit holes lol.

food is lousy . food like claypot chicken rice is overated. notice in other states, they are not famous for claypot chicken rice because its cheap food.

kl ppl also like eating yong tau fu . another cheap food. U come to pg , u see ppl eating yong tau fu often ? ppl eat real meat and seafood . not those process food.

kl ppl eat tilapia, catfish and etc. basically all the dirt fishes lol.

even kl suburbs is a shit place. ampang, cheras ,sentul, wangsa maju and etc are so old and unkept. Together withthe old shoplots, lrt , mrt and overhead bridge, it makes the city so messy and unorganised.

KL has the best opportunity for career development for most industries in Msia period thats why ppl are flocking here.

THe standard of living in kl is low compared to jb and pg.

food quality is low.

cost is living is high. Economy rice is expensive.

even eating seafood is a luxury in kl whereas its common food in jb, sabah, sarawak and pg.

Another thing kl wins is you guys have all the boring and big malls haha.

shame on u kl kaki, so called capital but lose out so much to other smaller states with less funding and opportunity.

KL n Penang r crowded and having bad traffic jam
JB hv better living environment from traffic, landed house and greenery.

And JB potential is way greater since it proximity to SG

If I got a job in another states other than Penang or JB, I will definitely move.

I started to feel really hate living in Klang Valley.

Shitty foods, cramped and crowded.

Nothing interesting living in KL and Selangor.
