non, usb wifi adapter are typically unreliable.
go with pci-e whatever possible.

for your laptop, just change your wifi card and you will have access to newer wifi tech.

maybe usb4.0 will improve this situation since it is using pci-e protocol

My favourite is TPLink TL-WN321G because no need drivers. iiim even Win Xp also no need driver. Best thing to have during Windows installation.

Firstly, don't bother with usb
desktop or laptop

if desktop, and have free pcie slot, and running windows 10 or newer
any wifi 6 card from the major brands (tplink/dlink/asus/totolink/tenda)
all will use Intel AX200 inside, the best wifi6 card

laptop... depends on age
if its an old one using miniPCIE slot, not much options, AX200 cards do exist but they are cursed custom production from Shenzhen, not an official Intel product
if M.2 just get an AX200 or even AX210 (do not get AX201 or AX211)

if usb is a must because of reasons (cant install, dont know how to install)
then depending on your budget and usage either...

cheap ~rm15 N150 adapters, brand doesn't matter, max real world speed is 38Mbps
better ones cost more but should give better peformance

*flashbacks to pci-e wifi cards with drivers that crashes my system*

frankly wifi adapters (pci-e and usb) is a close second to bluetooth in terms how borked most vendor implements the standard, from my experience at the very least

I only have one wifi usb dongle and one wifi card that somehow works without any issues, dozens before that all have shitty driver

at least pci-e and usb are not equal when it come to reliability. usb just had too much overhead, maybe because it is build to be re-moveable all the time.

ax201/ax211 might be better if your platform did support CNVio2 (intel platform only of course). somemore very cheap to purchase due to lack of compatibility on many platform.
