Oklahoma State football announced on Tuesday the Cowboys will be donning QR codes on their helmets this season to provide a way for fans to help NIL fund student-athletes on the current roster.
QR codes will be displayed on Cowboys football players helmets during the 2024 season that will link to a general team fund for every student-athlete on the roster.
OSU officials say they believe it will mark the first time that a college football team will display QR codes that help promote players’ earning potential during regular season games.
“This is a revolutionary step forward to help keep Oklahoma State football ahead of the game,” Mike Gundy said. “It gives a chance for everyday fans across the world to have a real impact when it comes to supporting the NIL efforts for Cowboy football. I’m thrilled about this opportunity for our players.”
The 1.5 square inch decals will display the QR code on the back of each players helmet, featuring player’s names and number in the design.
The QR codes are meant for the fans at home watching the game on television, giving them the ability to scan the code during broadcasts and postgame photos that are posted onto social media. It is expected to help raise the team’s NIL value during the football season.
