This type of cloud data centre is almost managed remotely and maintenance is done by mostly automation tasks.
it only needs small number of people probably < 50 to do hardware maintenance and perimeter security. these type of jobs is low pay. Compared to those high pay IT staff such as data center architect, software developer , system integration, those jobs easily get US$10K per month. |

Huh. Probably why I have an American software engineer guest in my Airbnb staying for 3 months. For 1.2k USD per month all in, he said it’s much cheaper in comparison with where he’s from and have been before.
Eh, good stuff. Keep it coming Madani. |

QUOTE(Kiding @ Aug 19 2024, 07:10 PM) This type of cloud data centre is almost managed remotely and maintenance is done by mostly automation tasks. You would be surprise many Malaysians here locally already are already in those roles, supporting customers around the region. They benefit even more now that more and more business is coming locally and they get huge amount of projects and managed services contract.it only needs small number of people probably < 50 to do hardware maintenance and perimeter security. these type of jobs is low pay. Compared to those high pay IT staff such as data center architect, software developer , system integration, those jobs easily get US$10K per month. yhtan and max_cavalera liked this post

The physical data centre itself not gonna provide few thousand job opportunities, but with the available of local AZ, hundreds if not thousands of business within Malaysia/ASEAN will leverage the services offered by Amazon. These services need ALOTS of IT expertise to design, implement, operate and maintain <-- this will create thousands of jobs for cloud professional, database admin, operating system admin, programmer, web developer and whatever you name it. Just read the news that Malaysia plans to export renewable energy to Singapore and Vietnam.Me more interested at the technology advancement opportunity with these FDI. But with these dc started to take shape, TNB share should be able to push pass 20 ringgit mark finally hehehe ~ QUOTE Malaysia expects to attract energy sector investments from Singapore, Vietnam — Fadillah LIMA, Peru (Aug 15): Malaysia is expected to attract new investments in the energy sector from Singapore and Vietnam, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. Fadillah, who is also the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said the potential investments will be discussed in detail during courtesy calls with Singapore Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling, dan Vietnam Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long later on Thursday. “I think the minister from Singapore intends to discuss extending the (renewable energy import from Malaysia) agreement, as the expiry date is near,” he said. The deputy minister said that Malaysia is prepared to export an additional 100 megawatts (MW) of power, in the event Singapore’s energy supply deal with Laos falls through. “I will also discuss focusing on the Asean Power Grid initiative next year with the ministers (from Singapore and Vietnam),” he told the media on Thursday, during his visit to Peru for the two-day Energy Ministers’ Meeting (EMM) under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) from Aug 15-16. The Asean Power Grid is a regional initiative to improve energy connectivity among Asean member countries. The grid focuses on integrating the electricity grids of various Asean nations to enhance energy security, promote efficient energy use, and support the development of a regional electricity market. The goal is to facilitate cross-border electricity trade and ensure a more reliable and sustainable energy supply within the region. Fadillah said the association’s countries can assist each other with power needs, in the spirit of the Asean community, . “This is one of the issues I intend to discuss with our Asean partners,” he said. Meanwhile, Fadillah also discussed possible investments in Vietnam, which has abundant wind power resources. He said that national oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and utility company Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENAGA) are keen to invest in Vietnam’s energy sector. “I will discuss the possibility of an undersea (power) cable from Vietnam to Kota Bahru, Kelantan. This is not only for Malaysia, but the cable can be used to supply power to Singapore and other Asean countries,” he added. Fadillah is scheduled for courtesy calls with the Brunei’s Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, Pehin Halbi; and Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nobuhiro Yoshida. He will also attend the minister’s lunch hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru. Need to know the actual stats...
kW-h and MW-h to actually justify its capacity. BIG in the sense of land size doesn't mean that the capacity are large. And technology improves on a exponential basis. |

Jakun cyberjaya try to push property price. lol. QUOTE(max_cavalera @ Aug 19 2024, 10:36 PM) I wonder how simple that dude think…. this is construction phase, the next phase when they complete, AWS service probably will be bill by RM instead of SGD, all the while AWS service available at Singapore but not Malaysia. I heard from my friend in IT line, AWS is their no.1 in term of data centre service. Also having AWS in Malaysia can contribute to taxes and some job. The next phase u will see a lot of IT company considering moving their operation to Malaysia due to cost benefit and infrastructure readiness. Isnt that tender to construct the data center gotten by developer sunway 740mil RM does not benefit the construction industry? The material source from factory2 producers in Msia, the bulk sellers of materials, the subcon2 hire by Sunway…the job created of this construction projects…the supply chain of materials, transporters, hiring/rental of heavy machineries equipment…the consultant and subject matter expert hired… the local it firm getting contracts to install server racks, cables, all doesnt count as a high value economy that benefit malaysian economy organically? Belum kira subcon hired to maintain the buildings, repairs, etc2 Only kira in the end how many work in the data center counts? QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Aug 20 2024, 08:10 AM) Just read the news that Malaysia plans to export renewable energy to Singapore and Vietnam. Yes, Singapore has a lot of MNC which need to comply with net zero carbon policy, they certainly has to buy green energy from us.Source TheEdgemalaysia max_cavalera liked this post

Some will work out and some will not. The most important is it gave publicity to our country and it gives confidence to others to invest here. All these data centres might not generate tons of jobs but it projects a good image of our country and this will attract more FDIs. May 19, 2022 - Amazon Web Services To Develop Data Centres In Malaysia
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expected to shell out major investments in Malaysia this year in order to develop data centres in the country, according to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mohamed Azmin Ali said that the government has already given AWS approval to invest In Malaysia as a data hub. Back in March, AWS had signed a Cloud Framework Agreement (CFA) with the Malaysian government, which gave government agencies and departments access to AWS Cloud services in any of the company’s 84 Availability Zones globally. Additionally, the government signed a CFA with AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud, and Telekom Malaysia to power the cloud computing service MyGovCloud. On a related note, Azmin had also met with Microsoft representatives to discuss the progress of the company’s “Bersama Malaysia Microsoft” initiative. He revealed that almost 500,000 local workers have been trained with a target of over one million by next year. Microsft is set to invest US$1 billion (~RM4.4 billion) over the next five years to build its first Azure data centre region in the country. https://www.lowyat.net/2022/273767/amazon-d...entre-malaysia/ |

picked from Facebook:
We have done some benchmarks to compare Malaysia vs other regions and it is so exciting for us to share the finding: 1. Cost Efficiency: We found that the EC2 shared instances is 13-17% cheaper compared to SG region (we randomly select t4g.nano and c7g.large), and Aurora is 17% cheaper than SG region! 2. Ultra-Low Latency: From our testing, the ping time is 38% faster than SG and 82% faster than HK. We also deployed a dummy web, it is 5.2% faster than SG and 51% faster than HK 3. Data Sovereignty: Keep your data local and secure while meeting all compliance and regulatory requirements seamlessly. Especially for financial services, healthcare and government services. |

nah, yang cakap tak ada kerja punya, pigi apply:
https://press.aboutamazon.com/2024/8/aws-la...ion-in-malaysia "The construction and operation of the new AWS Region is estimated to add approximately $12.1 billion (MYR 57.3 billion) to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) and will support an average of more than 3,500 full-time equivalent jobs at external businesses annually through 2038. These jobs, including construction, facility maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and others within the country’s broader economy, will be part of the AWS supply chain in Malaysia."
