I was given green light to start a version 2 thread for our beloved d40/d40x users(including me).

Click here to be redirected to the V1 thread.

*For your info, D40x is 99% the same as D40 The only difference is the ISO and Resolution.
D40 flash sync speed is 1/500 vs D40x's 1/200 only. smile.gif

D40 user here by the way. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi fellow Nikonians.

Just purchase a D40 kit today with Nikon Msia warranty. After using for a few hours, found the LCD has 1-2 dead pixels. Did not notice it when purchased.

Anyone has this problem before. Will Nikon service centre replace the LCD? How long does it take?

Other than this problem. I very happy with it.

Hope to get some advice here.

TQ.

Mine has one. Nikon will only replace it if the LCD has 3 or more dead pixels. I asked already.

Reverse mounted the kit lens using BR-2A, lighting is not optimum but it's fun

Yeah, sort of. biggrin.gif

Taken using D40, with 18-55mm kit lens, but reverse mounted to take macro shot.

WTA, does the small tripod can hold the d40? cos sometimes wan to place the camera low and the big tripod isn't helping. Too high..

Try using bean bag.

hey guys..
if i wanna snap pic for insect..more focuss...
which lens should i use?
and how much is it?

i'm using D40x..

Do you mean macro photography? Nikkor 105mm if you can afford it. Else a cheaper way will be to do a close-up diopter or reverse mounting ring (BR-2A) with your kit lens, but you'll need to open the aperture lever manually since it's a G lens.

You can try using HB-33 lens hood. It's the optional lens hood for the original version of 18-55mm
