Wah if I had the cash I would go for the equipment lor but since not printing money, quite hard to achieve that.

Yeah, the white balance seems a little off. Were you shooting in AUTO WB because I always see that the Nikon D40 tends to get a warmer look when shooting indoors but always near perfect when shooting outdoors.

QUOTE(ebernie @ Jan 22 2008, 02:03 AM) Wow, a device? OK, how much does one cost? Where did you buy one? If it's a couple of hundred ringgit, I might consider investing in one. Cheaper than getting a Mac (which I heard has properly calibrated monitors). Not all Macs have properly calibrated monitors as when you actually calibrate your monitor, it takes the light reading in your room as well or the location where your monitor is and calibrates it to suit the overall viewing condition. The Spyder 2 Express is priced around RM400 at Eng Tong in SS2 but I got mine for RM380 during the Adobe Photoshop world conference. |

QUOTE(mindkiller6610 @ Jan 22 2008, 08:13 PM) to me 4GB per card is more than enuff, Yeah, especially when I go out shooting events and all where I don't want all my eggs in one basket 2GB is sufficient, i'd prefer to have more cards, rather than all cramped into one. But of course there is the constant hassle to change cards all the time |

QUOTE(orenzai @ Jan 23 2008, 01:42 PM) having a faster writing card means you can shoot more continuous shots.. I learned that Digimate is pretty slow. Another brand is Nexto but they are costlier. It costs about around RM700+ for the casing without the HDD. But the neat thing other than the faster transfer rate is that it has a verify file function. Essential if you work outside most of the time.i would suggest you NOT to upgrade to 4gb...get more cards is better...in case it corrupts, you still have the other half of it and not all gone... if you wan more space..i would suggest getting a photobank...using Digimate 3 now.. so far so good... |

If you shoot RAW, then definitely 2Gb not enough IMHO. That is of course for different occassions. Still, it makes good sense to always have a backup. You never know what might just happen right?

Yes you can, try Picassa by Google. It can read *.NEF photos.

Hrm, good point there. I think I installed PoctureProject then Picassa can view the files.
Edit: You can download the RAW codec files from Nikon Imaging Website to view them if you are on Vista. http://nikonimglib.com/nefcodec/ This post has been edited by Mavik: Feb 5 2008, 05:09 PM |

QUOTE(orenzai @ Feb 7 2008, 11:44 PM) i read newspaper today saying that theres a new 60mm f2.8 micro lens? its said to be cheaper and better than the 105mm... anyone know the price? No quoted price yet but perhaps in the range of RM1.5k to RM2k is my best guess. I hope that with this new lens, the older version will be sold off at a cheaper rate. |

Hard to see the noise when the images are cropped so small taddaaaa, 5% are useful haha. well, from his words yeah, sorta. after toying around with the curve its almost gone Need to get the 100% crop and then compare it against, D40, D40x, D80 and D300 and you will see the difference, even from ISO 800 and above *poison* *poison* *poison* *poison* *poison* *poison* *poison* *poison* |
