Hi to all sifus here,
I have recently replaced my front original speaker with Coaxial (MOHAWK M5-625P2 V2) in Myvi G3. All the other stuffs including head unit is still in original condition. No DSP, no AMP, no woofer.
After installing it, i hear lesser bass compare to original speaker but of course the mid and high range sound is better.
I can hear better sound quality(all three low/mid/high range sound) if i keep my head near to steering wheel position. Otherwise, it has only vocal and high range sound but very minimum bass. It is like the sound remains in leg room cant reach out to passenget.
I had played around with the equaliser high Hz on low and high range while mid range keep it slightly lower than 0. Overall shape like a U.
I have also tried adjusting the sound to front or rear only. The result is original speaker has more bass but bad in vocal while OEM speaker wise versa.
Currently, i set it to F4(max is F7) to play hits song while R2 to play Remix.
I am planning to upgrade the sound system by stages including install head unit-->soundproof-->upgrade all 4 speaker+ additional tweeter and woofer--> add amp if needed.
At first i wanted to change the all 4 door speakers with budget OEM speakers before starting my progress. At the end, i choose to change coaxial first because there is too many OEM brands out there and I am not sure about the mohawk speaker quality.
I understand that with only 2 OEM speakers it wont help alot much to improve the sound quality. What confusing me is i like getting lost after changing the OEM speaker. As the low range sound is very soft, not wanting to have as good as with woofer as I have not added any yet. The sound is like the speaker with woofer but the woofer is off.
My question is:
-is this normal as it is budget speaker (aorund RM200++)?
-is there any way to improve the sound quality
-does the head unit play a role in this case?
thanks in advance and sorry for my bad england essay
Looks like the this model can handle from 60hz. So trying boosting 60-110Hz in equalizer see if it works (60-110hz should be higher than other frequency). If you want slightly more bass, you need to switch this Coaxial to backseat, then change front seat speaker to any mid-bass speaker like this one for example: MOHAWK M5-6P2 V2. But my honest opinion, you need to get proper mid-bass + tweeter set (they usually go in set). However after switching these you might feel the bass is still at somewhere else still, so this is where DSP come in play.I have recently replaced my front original speaker with Coaxial (MOHAWK M5-625P2 V2) in Myvi G3. But I can answer some of these
-is this normal as it is budget speaker (aorund RM200++)? -> yes dont expect much
-is there any way to improve the sound quality -> in my own experience, you should be adding DSP first, then change component speakers (mid-bass) and add tweeter. This will have nice umph but DSP is costly (from 600 - few Ks). For me DSP plays really important role liking timing-phase etc but i just send my car to experts to do tuning.. they can shift the sound to somewhere else (e.g dashboard) all bass/mid/low/high can come from dashboard, definitely nice experience.
But if you want bass, just add subwoofer 10' underseat or 12'-15' subwoofer with ported box if you're bass head/or if you'd like to rattle your car (ported box = boomy sound, sealed box= tight/accurate bass)
-does the head unit play a role in this case?
For me, budget build yes, but as i progress further i skipped head unit altogether because it seems to "kacau" my audio settings/profile (I'm using TS8 4-5 years back), now I just connect audio directly to the DSP. (Digital audio player (DAP)) -> DSP) or (Phone -> DAC -> DSP).
but in short, if dont have much budget, (lower than 2K) can buy a headunit, add subwoofer, add in mid-bass to front. done.
Just need to know what you want la bro, from your post I can feel you want Sound Quality (SQ) and this is very expensive hobby.
Previously I had simple setup, Component set (midbass+tweeter), normal android headunit with internal DSP, and underseat subwoofer 10', feels sufficient already, can get within 2k including installation
