Hi, my car encountering a problem and unable to let me start.. after asking the foreman to check, they said it is not battery problem but maybe is car cannot detect car key or car electronic things problem.

He tried to start, sometimes can start, sometimes after start it died down again, sometimes is just doesn't start. 3 different scenario.

After checking he said it is the latter and solution is they will try to fix it but no guarantee with 1 month warranty if fix or get a new one but estimate price will be roughly 3k.

Wondering if it worth to fix it? Or is there any possible problem that is not the problem mention by him. I'm not sure... So wondering if any encounter this before?

Probably ECU problem. Look for Arthur Pakia or Raj Kia Specialist in Facebook, they can repair for under RM1k if indeed it is ECU problem.

Called alarm shop guy to replace, with original immobilizer chip, roughly rm500

Did the foreman print out and gave you the Battery Test and Electrical Charging Systems Test report ?

Get that properly done first and get the report, so that you can eliminate any possibility that those are the problems, before proceeding with other costlier repairs. Don't just take anybody's word. What I have learnt is anybody can claim anything and now I rely on the report. So if anyone has anything to say, it must be backed up with a report. No report, I no believe because when I conduct testing, the reports always proves otherwise to what others had claimed.

Question is the Elantra always parked under the sun ?

Authorized Service Center should be able to conduct the tests for you and the report would be something like this ..

Couple more questions

1. What is the battery size ?
2. When was it installed ?
3. Do you always use the battery until it dies ?
4. Are both the terminals spotlessly clean or do they have dirt & grime on them ?
5. Check and ensure that the terminals have no cracks.
6. Has corrosion ever formed at the terminals before ?
7. The Elantra always starts up fine in the morning, correct ?
8. The Elantra usually fails to start generally within this time 12 noon to 5.30 pm and it's intermittent, correct ?

Probably wiring or Ecu problem. My Peugeot 207 had such issue. PM me for contact if you can't find a reliable one.

Might be from a wonky starter motor too. My daughter Picanto 2015 had similar issue 2-3 years back, turn out to be starter motor. Got the carbon brush change for less than RM250 then all is good.
