Hi all. I'm getting my Canon 350D very soon (if God willing). I just thought maybe I would just post some photos I've taken with my friend's Canon 350D. These photos are taken from my work place. Not too much as my boss was not too happy about me taking the pictures and yes, you guessed it. I'm a teacher. biggrin.gif

All pictures are taken using Canon 350D with the kit lens attached.

A scene from the roleplay.

I'll post more when I've finally gotten my own 350D. But now... I need some constructive comments (though my subjects may not be as interesting). smile.gif

Thank you!

Hi orenzai and goregrinder, actually all the photos are taken from the children's level except picture 1 and 3. Maybe I failed to make it look like it. sad.gif

Maybe I'm still trying to get use to the camera weight. I guess that explains the blurness. I just got myself a 400D yesterday. I hope I'll get used to it pretty soon. I'll post pictures later.

Thanks for all your feedback. smile.gif

hi hi, remember to set to a high shutter speed possible since your subjects tend to move alot. In indoor conditions like that, it means you are going to need Fast lens or High ISO speeds to maintain a fast shutter. Alternatively, use bounced flash (because i don't want to be firing direct flashes at kids). But be careful when going down to their level because taller kids or adults could peer from the sides and damage their eye sight if you bounce

I had a silly experience where i composed a shot really low without peering into the viewfinder (i.e, stomach level) and forgot the flash unit was bouncing off to my face directly. (Fortunately i was looking to the front, not below to the flash unit)

Hi CutieLynette, when taking photos of children, zoom in and shoot their facial expression. Shooting a group of children requires extreme skill in composition so that the photos won't looks cluttered and busy.

Yea, noticed that now. Since they move around alot, I had a tough time trying to photograph them. Thanks for the heads up! smile.gif

Added on November 22, 2007, 1:33 amHere's some pictures I took at my cousin's wedding last week. It might not be as nice as others, but I hope I'll improve in time.

All pictures are taken just with my Canon 400D kit only and are all shot with ISO 1600. I can't afford a speedlite yet! cry.gif

Pictures are Photoshop'ed (Curves and resize only)

There's one thing I noticed after editing the pictures is that while the pictures looked good on my laptop (where I edited them), they looked underexposed on my desktop! I'm having a real headache about this, any pointers?

Try getting a feel for the camera by shooting outdoors first. The lighting in the wedding scenes aren't the best to experiment with, generally for handheld shots anything under 1/30s you need to be careful of shake.

sad.gif I understand that without a speedlite and still hands, shooting in low lighting really require skill. I hope I would get use to the weight of the camera as I continue to shoot. I hope it's a skill not too difficult for a girl to master. tongue.gif

Oh, how could I forget! STORIES. My photojournalism lectures gone down the drain!
I took these photos without the mindset of wanting to tell stories to the people who's gonna see the pictures. I was too busy making sure I don't blur-up all of my pictures. I'm just not good enough. cry.gif

If you don't have steady hands, I suggest that you get a system with image stabilizer built into the body or else you have to bear with higher shutter speeds.

It's been so long and I actually forgotten the existence of this gallery. I bought a 50mm f1.8 and I've shot a fairly amount of pictures. They may not be very pro but these are my best shots so far...

I have to admit shooting children (omg, sounds so wrong) is not an easy task. Even though I know these children it took me a lot of patience to frame. They move around too much. biggrin.gif

I took 400 pictures that day during the children's party. But most of them are snap shots. The parents are not so interested in artistic shots. They are more interested in having "professional" mugshots of their children. shakehead.gif

there are definitely much improvements in your newer shots...for weddings..it's always advisable to use a faster shutter speed...maybe around 1/80, if you have an external flash...u can push it up to around 1/120

Ahh, yes I know. I haven't posed anything for a really long time now. I've been taking pictures, just that i've haven't have the time to put them up (it's a pain to edit and host them, ok?).

Here are some I took at FGAKL (it's a church, in case you're wondering) when Planetshakers was in town. I got there early and found myself a sweet spot right in front of the stage. The experience was awesome!

Most of them looked the same, so I'll only post some of it la.

1 thing that can be improved, would be to snap the guitars with it's face / string shown - like #10, minus the black thing at the bottom. a tighter crop would help.

I went on Saturday. The one at my main church at Old Klang Road. I didn't go to one in Sunway.

No 8-10 gets my pick, but the best goes to no 9! Honestly good shots esp on the guitarist!

I love #9 too! smile.gif

1 thing that can be improved, would be to snap the guitars with it's face / string shown - like #10, minus the black thing at the bottom. a tighter crop would help.

Henry purposely came in front of me and I didn't want to miss any moment of it, so I let the camera go on a continuous capture. So this is one of the shots from the continuous shots. The reason I like this photos is because he looked at the camera and that shadow at the bottom gives a I-was-there feeling. That's why I didn't crop it. If i composed this photo properly I would leave that stage out, but this accident looks beautiful... (I don't know if I made any sense...)
