MUAR: A 44-year-old woman lost RM1.45mil after being duped into investing in the Macau Scam.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the victim, a real estate agent, came across an overseas investment scheme on Facebook in May this year.

"The victim was attracted to the scheme offering a good return of investment," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 21).

ACP Raiz Mukhliz said upon expressing her interest, the victim was added to a WhatsApp group for Pantheon Ventures investment scheme.

"Between June 14 and Aug 13, she made transactions to five bank accounts," he said.

He said the victim made a profit of RM25,000 but when she wished to withdraw the principal fund of RM1.45mil, her request was turned down given reasons that she had yet to settle an outstanding investment money and failed to follow the regulations.

"The victim lodged a police report on Tuesday (Aug 20) after realising she was cheated," said ACP Raiz Mukhliz, adding the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

ACP Raiz Mukhliz advised the public to always check with http://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule to verify if the investment scheme is connected to any fraud cases.

The public can also contact the CCID Scam Response Centre at 03-2610 1599.

I know scammers who are living high life in KLCC, with body guard, and often travels overseas to check their operations. Then here I see people crying victim...

All I can say, those scammers are filthy rich, they literally just burn money... easy come easy go.
