I am planning to get a 150-500 mm Tamron lens from Amazon. Net price is RM5700, lower than local.

But I need to know if it is taxable on arrival.

Thanks.

P/S An update.

a. Amazon has this Import Fee deposit a buyer needs to pay when ordering. This is to pay for the import tax. If the tax is less than the paid deposit, the buyer will get a refund from Amazon. If the tax is more than the deposit, Amazon will pay for the buyer.

b. I called up the Custom dept. It is 5% tax on the lens. The import deposit by Amazon is at 5% too.

So, most likely I will get it from Amazon. Now what about warranty? Ha.

I never bought lens from amazon before, but recently I bought a lens on ebay, seller shipped from US. No tax upon arrival. It came directly to my house. Hope that help

I tried to contact the seller about the warranty. The seller is Amazon. I cannot find the "Contact seller" link like in Shopee.

Maybe I will take a gamble and get it with or without a warranty. Count me really unlucky if it fails within a year. Saving is more than enough for a major repair. Ha.

With RM vs US$ doing well and free delivery, it is attractive to me.
