PETALING JAYA: The government will give a six-month grace period in the first phase of electronic invoicing implementation, which will commence on Aug 1.

Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin said in a press conference on Friday (July 26) that violators will not be penalised during the grace period.

"During the six-month grace period, businesses will only need to submit a consolidated e-invoice for all their transactions.

"Even during the grace period, if consumers request an electronic receipt, businesses are not required to issue an electronic invoice," he said in a special e-invoicing press conference here on Friday (July 26), reported Sin Chew Daily.

Abu Tariq noted that consumers can still request a physical receipt.

The e-invoicing implementation is mandatory for companies with an annual revenue of RM10mil and above.

Expected la. Even during discussions off record lhdn ensure no punishment in the initial phases as everyone work thru the glitches together

But don't confuse e invoice with cp 204 payment. E invoicing is still separate from estimate payable tax

Many SMEs are going to go out of business after this.

Expect things to get even more expensive soon with online shopping.

The current platforms such as Shitpee, Lapsapda, TEMU and TikTok are already at saturation phase.

Are you running a business on your own? How do you know a lot of SME is going out of business with e-invoicing implementation? Can clarify how you come to such confusion?

Online shopping platforms are already at its peak on saturation phase in Malaysia. It is best time to buy things you can afford now before the commission draw increases next month.Everything is going to shoot up in price after this.

This with the eInvoice and TIN requirements is going to slim down many SMEs profit margins if they don't push it towards the end consumers instead.

Unless you own your own logistics companies like the big players like Lapsapda/Shitpee own in house stores, SMEs are going to have their profits further eaten after this coming round of commission draw raise.

The same of what happened to cab hailing/food delivery GRAB.

Our government doesn't understand that they're actually killing off the local industries in favor of giving the advantage entirely to the China exporters/factories with the eInvoicing requirement.

Malaysians SMEs have to pay income tax on top of the SST charges which they bring into the country in bulk.

With the MM2H 2nd home program, China businesses are here to make fast profit from this country before fleeing once they achieve their targets for another hosts once the online platforms becomes saturated.

Nowadays a lot of our SMEs just can't compete directly with the big players from China who is now setting up warehouses in the country for fast delivery. What is manufactured back in their own country they don't pay income taxes to us while locally manufactured items our SMEs pay for whatever they sell locally derived from their income.

We can't match their prices while many cannot continue operating their businesses while they dump prices bypassing the wholesalers/stores by having direct presence in Malaysia itself.
