hi sifus,

thinking of upgrading my mba 2013 128gb to higher disk space.

i have inquire pricing from few technician. but i am confused on their term of "upgrading".

1 told me just do "enlargement" with price lower than others + all data retain and few told me change/swap of ssd + all data loss.

so which is true?

2013 model are having stand alone storage drive. Which meant removable. Swapping the drive meant your data remain on the old drive. It will be extra step to migrate your data from old drive to the new. So you just need to clarify and request them to perform such service for you.

Apple SSD connectors are proprietary for themselves only.

However, you still can upgrade your original SSD to third party SSD with an adaptor to convert the connector, and it totally compatible.

You can get any M.2 PCIe SSD to use along.
Below is success installation image on a MBA 2013.

Preparing the new SSD with MacOS is on different processes.
You'll need to have a pen drive, loaded with the MacOS image file.

Any M.2 NVME + PCiE adapter will do. Easy peasy.

Depends what do you upgrade means. Actually every macbook is able upgrade the memory.
However upgradable by user already no longer exist after Macbook Pro 2017 non touch bar.

M-chip usually storage upgrade. RAM are difficult, tricky and high fail rate.

I think for M-Chip there is no way to upgrade RAM if remember correctly...very huge cost on that
