Hey all, my home is currently under reno and i have added multiple ethernet ports in the rooms of the home. I need some help on some recommendations of switches, and also for wireless usage should i opt for mesh or another router to be an AP (mostly for living room usage as the upper floor will be the network setup). Thanks guys

Since you have lan to rooms AP router
Is better . You get maximum speed/bandwidth.
and good routers are cheaper .

if your ap and/or camera have POE, look for poe switches. I'm fond of tplink products, so anything from tplink that have metal casing switches will be ok.

if normal switch, i suggest sg108e. 8 port gigabit with vlan functions.

ap, get a mesh product even if you opt to backhaul everything

Go for those "Unmanaged" Switch type, available from D-Link, TP-Link, Tenda etc.

If you wanted something more advanced, then go for "Managed" Switches like TP-Link Omada Series, they have full products from WiFi, Switches, Routers etc. And best of all it can be managed from a single software interface (Free) & can be installed into any Windows PC.

Hope this helps... cool2.gif

Actual APs might be a better option than routers as AP

switches. if you dont plan to use PoE or VLANs, then any cheap gigabit switch is fine
