JOHOR BAHRU: A six-year-old girl who went missing in Johor since Saturday (Jul 20) has been found safe in Selangor, according to a report from local TV outlet TV3.
Malaysia police have arrested three people to assist with investigations relating to the case and has reclassified the case as kidnapping.
The girl, Albertine Leo Jia Hui, was allegedly separated from her family following a Bon Odori event at the Eco Galleria mall in Johor’s Iskandar Puteri.
TV3 reported that Albertine was found safe in Batang Kali, Selangor a district located around 50km from Kuala Lumpur. The outlet quoted Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan as saying that she was found on Tuesday morning.
In a statement released on Monday night, Johor police chief M Kumar said that the three who were arrested were two men and one woman, aged between 28 and 55, and they were apprehended at the Iskandar Puteri and Gelang Patah areas around 1.30pm that afternoon.
“The investigation is now being classified under Section 365 of the Penal Code, which pertains to kidnapping or abducting someone with the intent to secretly and wrongfully confine them.
