Though I'm using Digi eSIM and it requires me to go to Digi Centre to get it transferred to a new device, I still find eSIM is quite convenient after using it for 4 years now. I have two active lines so one of them must be an eSIM, so far not too bad.

yeah... as long as one of them sim is esim.. it is perfect...

i am using digi esim too. tongue.gif

Just to add, if I wanted anything other than a point and shoot camera/video, I would have gotten a Sony a7Iv… oh wait, I already have a Sony a7Iv….
*
Yeah for real photography definitely your full frame cam is best.

But its still good for on the go content creator/photographer to mount iphone as a secondary backup shot or as a reference to cross check.

I thought eSim implementation should let end user to register and change the sim on another phone easier without removing Sim card. Is it only MY with weird implementation that need to go to store to request new eSim every time, or its a worldwide thing?

Last time got video show assemble in India is not that good when they open up, it is not that tidy as assembly at China, even though no impact to usage.

Wasn’t sure they improve it from my last experience 2 years ago. I requested to change to eSim at Maxis The Garden, then they told me ran out of eSim.

eSim should be reusable when transfer to another phone by scanning the existing QR? Or need to request a new QR if want to register it on another phone?

Nowadays no need to go to Maxis Centre to get eSIM transferred.

New QR, at least this is what Digi told me.

Not for Maxis eSim though. I converted my physical sim on my 11 pro to eSim on my 15 pro max via the eSim transfer function on the phone itself.

Took me less than 5 mins. No need to go online website or anything like that. It was a seamless experience.
*
Yes I do that also, but you can't when you want to do second time for transferring to another phone.

Second time transfer need go maxis center get QR Code.

Needs when you do second time transfer. The on the spot transfer only can do for first time transfer.

When I want transfer again to my Pixel using the phone itself transfer then no longer can. I call maxis and maxis said only can do yourself for first time only, after that is required go center get QR code.

That what holding me back to change from physical sim to eSim. It’s too troublesome that have to go to physical store to request something that can do online.

iPhone 16 support wifi 7. But I just sold my TO-Link BE550.

I'm not sure what's the big deal about it being assembled in China or India. It should be assembled to Apple's standards and that should be uniform across board. Was there a problem with your wife's 15?
Haha, yeah, good to have them just in case but because I travel quite a bit for work it's a bit of a hassle to carry one around laugh.gif
Ermm, yes, but undecided on the channel or when to get it just yet. I likely won't preorder though..
I don't think iPhone values hold that well anymore given the statement below by a fellow seasoned bro on this topic, haha...
Hear hear biggrin.gif I guess if one cares about 2nd hand value then they should either get one on Telco contract or not be an early adopter anymore.
*
Telco contract is the worst. You pay FULL RETAIL PRICE for the phone, gets a binding 2 year contract on some stupidly expensive Iphone Telco Package in exchange for some meagre discounts on the phone. shocking.gif

Then the phones cannot sell and Apple sells them at massive discounts at online plaftforms/ resellers and others buy them at low price without telco contracts.

Maxis cannot use the phone transfer thing, it will get stuck and they will ask you to proceed to Maxis center.
and in the process before you go to Maxis, your line is disconnected.

I went thru this horrow movie last week, no choice had to go to Maxis immediately after finger itchy go and convert physical sim to esim in my iphone.

Haha, no la, for some privileged people who have companies paying up to a certain amount for the phone bills or uses the phone to that degree that justifies the phone bill, then it makes sense. Also, maxis gets me 1k or sometimes more off my phone and I've not had any difficulty selling my Telco sets so far so all good for me.

But you have a point. People shouldn't sign up for a Telco plan that doesn't suit their usage and end up paying more than they should just to get a phone is a bad idea for sure. I always get triggered when someone posts a question here which Telco should they go for to get a phone cheaper. You should pick a Telco based on the coverage and the suitability of the plan and rates, not for the discount on a phone.

In theory, yes you are right.

With iPhone, yes you are right too.

With third party tool, then there is a possibility to achieve that by breaking the encryption.
*
nowadays the storage security pretty much baked in already. once erase the encryption key then whatever crap inside is pretty much garbage.
even if can be broken, this one already at state-actor level laugh.gif too high of a bar of entry

I’m still undecided from 13 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro for ease of use or 16 Pro Max for screen and battery life.

From what I’ve roughly seen/read, both models the same internals.

iPhone > iPhone 4 > iPhone 6 Plus > iPhone X > iPhone 13 Pro Max

Original iPhone still works …
