Actually i had been hunting for a replacement for my a52s for 1 year plus already, still cant find a proper replacement. Didnt knew a52s is a bang for buck phone with incredible specs, even for a 2021 samsung phone. Cant really find a 1k phone today that can beat this 2021 phone.

Main criteria for replacement is led screen, memory card slot and 3.5mm jack.

Samsung hit the right notes combining SD 778G with A series. It was a once off experiment but this model will outlast even the latest A55, when comparing SoC performance.

It's a pity they don't have any combination of 7 Gen 3 with any of the A series, and their Exynos lineup continue to disappoint.

Totally agree. I always looking forward to A5x series every year hoping for a proper replacement and each time i get disappointed. Worst is a53 and a54, where both performance lose to a52s , but is priced higher.

A52s has faster performance than even Galaxy A54 5G (and possibly A55 5G due to the Exynos chip 😅), but the 3.5mm headphone jack has been phased out since Galaxy A53 in 2022.

Your main criteria of LED screen is definitely easy to get, but I'm afraid to say that nowadays memory card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack has been phased out in all Android segments from flagships down to the lower mid-range segments. only budget entry level Android phones are left with the 3.5mm jack and memory card slot.

Your A52s could last longer for a few more years if you decide to change the battery now (my sister's A52 had to change her battery in 2023 after the battery swollen up, and degraded fast). But if you're interested in changing phones now, can you fill up your requirements down below for a better recommendation?

Any idea on what battery to purchase for a52s? I having problem of finding it online as i cant get a proper mall seller. Most of the sellers are those that i dont really trust, lol. Any brand of battery to recommend? I notice its easier to find a reputable battery brand for iphone compare to android.

Z9 is not great for gaming. The other picks can do genshin stable 50+ fps at maxed out graphics

A52s user here too. It has all the right features that I wanted back then. Looking for newer models but can't find any suitable replacement for the same price range. Sad that nowadays they started to remove 3.5mm and microSD. Me just jealous new and even some cheaper models have outperformed the A52s quite significantly in terms of camera quality. Fortunately, my battery health still above 90% after 2 years. Will hold on to it for now till the software update support ended.

Z9 is not best for intensive gaming, but for casual gaming, 6000mAh battery + 80W charging alongside the 144Hz 1.5K AMOLED makes for longer gaming sessions. Putting it in 3rd place, compared to the competition.

But you serious about it gaming, the Poco X6 Pro and Infinix GT 20 Pro are much better than IQOO Z9, from the better processor, the faster RAM, and faster storage

My sister just went to Malaysia Samsung official service centre to replace the battery haha, she lazy to DIY, the price was slightly more expensive but better peace of mind.

But one thing to note is that the A52s 5G is on OneUI 6 (Android 14) and won't be receiving upcoming OneUI 7 (Android 15) come October 2024. And the A52s will no longer be guaranteed to receive any security patches starting with September 2025. (If you use bank apps, that means software on the A52s should be able to last until late 2026/early 2027)

Thanks for the price. I'm thinking to change battery when I'm phasing myself to custom LineageOS system after the official software support ends. I just have concerns on 3rd party OS because I'll lose VOLTE or WiFi calling, so I'm using the OneUI until it ends.

Maybe next year with 2nd tier , used phone.

The 12GB+512GB config is definitely better than 8GB+256GB config. But if you use only like 256GB storage, then the money for the 12GGB+512GB config is less justifiable. Nonetheless, the 4GB more RAM does allow for more apps to stay open at the same time

Xiaomi update not much problem, infact I find samsung the one once update will lag if low end device.

Android side (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo/OnePlus) all software are refined to the point that there's no much difference in smoothness/stability (with minimal lag) between the brands.

But for Xiaomi to maintain smoothest operations, you need to immediately turn off ALL ads during setup. It should take less than 5 minutes to finish it up.

Basically their Xiaomi HyperOS ads are enabled by default, and you need to opt-out and turn off the ads.

Poco F3 (2021) software already End Of Support (last security update is June 2024, and it was launched with Android 11, received updates until Android 13)

and Poco F4 (2022) is going to be at its EOS on June 2025 (it already received its last Android 14 update, and last security update will be on June 2025)

For context, both F3 and F4 only have 2 years OS + 3 years security updates. Also I doubt can get new unit with warranty for F3 and F4 😅

I can't deny the Snapdragon 870 processor onboard the F3 and F4 is still a strong performer in 2024 (it's even on the Xiaomi Pad 6), but software support ending will pose some problems for several high confidentiality apps (e.g. banking apps) that requires newer Android versions.

Ehh, I didn't have this problem with HyperOS? I personally use the Earth Super Wallpaper in Themes, and personally consider it their flagship feature of their software (wallpaper wise). Maybe even the best among the Android competition for wallpapers

Stylistically speaking the Wallpaper Carousel is the worst definitely.

Then ignore Mi Browser, and just use Google Chrome. But it's still recommended to directly turn off the ads (just in case the apps send any pesky notifications)
