viewsonic and ibm have introed 3840x2400 22 incher in year 2000 or so...

it is for professional medical, engineering, 3d modeling, and so on...

so it is a rehash of the same tech.. probably same panel as well.. with maybe with slighly improvement..

would need dual dual-link dvi for 40Hz refresh rate and above for the bandwidth and to stitch/sync (high end Quadro and FireGL card only) ... Maybe HDMI 1.3 will provide the needed bandwidth... but no one has implimented a transmiter and receiver yet capable of it yet. Probably display port coming in 2008 will be able to do so.

b.t.w with the old 22 monitors... the panels have a slow refresh rate, I think 40ms..... and because of the high dpi it is prone to dead pixels..
the old monitors could also run full res. with one single link dvi if you drop the refresh rate to 12Hz or so.. or run at 1920x1200 res @60Hz.

the cost for the old ones just about rm 6k to 10k...

3840x2400 resolution , if want play ultra high quality , need 3 way SLI  , each card 1gb ... haha , joke
Not really, ran direct X9 3d game on a combined 3840x2048 displays with one 8800gtx before ....

lolz =.= so funny what graphic card can support such resolution?8800 and hd2900 oni?
With current cards, and 2d apps at full res. at above 40Hz need dual dual-link dvi outputs with framelock and a genlock (high Quadro class cards)... 3840x2400@24Hz ..any cards with one DL-dvi output .. 3840x2400@12Hz.. any graphic card with sl-dvi output.. .. graphic must have at least 128MB RAM

for non texts intensive apps and not for games ... too slow refresh rates.. as well as split implimentation of dual input prevents most 3d games..

there is quite a large yahoo user group of the IBM T-221 ... the first 22incher at 3840x2400.

Eh? Already have a large user group? What do they use this LCD for, BTW?  hmm.gif
the monitor (ibm t-221) have been out for 7 to 8 years.. apps as stated in my post #5

seen and touched one ... closed to owing one... the high res.. not that bad... just have to sit closer... more info on a narrower viewing angle... no need to pan your head from side to side...

No. That may well be the monitor of the future.
True resolution independance.... who knows. it may be released to coincide with OSX Leopard's major upgrade to enable system wide resolution independance (now currently limited to a few applications)
Leopard ....l..., monitors like these were released 7 years ago before even OSX was launched in 2001... native res. on LCD is fixed there is no independance.. This touted feature of Leopard has very little to do with the res of this monitor... I doubt Leopard, as of now, even have drivers ready for these specialized dual input monitors.. Seeing their locked hardware requires "specialized" price hiked graphic cards available only through their chains.

Leopard's spaces... stacks.... long time existed in Linux OS

Another thing,... enabling SLI outputs through one connector only... in no way does a single vga/DL-DVI connector carries enough bandwidth for 3840x2400@40Hz(or higher, at 48Hz/60Hz)...

most games can go... 3840x2400... but at very low frame rates... the problem lies mostlly is bandwidth through multiple vga/dvi ports.... display port coming early next year solves this with a single port
