Liu Chuyu, also known as Princess Shanyin, lived during the Liu Song Dynasty. She was the daughter of Emperor Xiaowu and Empress Wang Xianyuan. Frustrated by her brother’s vast harem of concubines, she complained that it was unfair for her to have only one husband. In response, her brother granted her a unique harem of 30 young men, known as “mianshou.” These lovers were chosen exclusively for her. Despite this concession, Liu Chuyu remained unsatisfied and even requested a specific official named Chu Yuan as her lover. However, Chu resisted her advances, leading to an intriguing twist in this historical tale.
