Mediterranean in winter is not very cold. If go northern Scandinavia, then yes, will be cold AF. I was in Madeira (further south) 2 years ago during winter and it was just around 21-23 C

yes, can visit a lot of places. no need to keep packing to move around, unpacking and catching planes, trains, bus, taxis etc

unlimited food, plenty of entertainment on board. a lot of things included in price already

That's warm! Especially for angmoh standards.

I guessed Mediterranean winter wasn't that cold (no mentions of snow) but didn't expect it to be warm.

Cruise to somewhere definitely better, even if you don't want to come off the ship (for the change of scenery). Some of the best photos i liked are taken from the ship itself

The ship got a few swimming pools, pub/bars, restaurants, shops, nursery, cinema, theatre, cafes

Unlimited food. Excursions are optional

Food's pretty decent. I would not say great because there's usually 1 dish that is too sweet/salty/tasteless, but the rest is pretty decent and have enough variety

General dining area can be a bit busy during peak times, so I normally go a bit early or later to avoid the crowd. Food is available almost the whole days and constantly refilled, so won't get hungry

I don't have exclusive lounge, but I did dine at the specialty restaurants (for additional price). More disappointed with those restaurants, but it wasn't expensive to begin with

Ancient grottos (caves), shipwreck of ancient merchant and Roman ships, walls formed from lava and fishes different from ours. Visibility is 4-6m as water is colder.

Maybe flying from UK not too bad. But imagine flying 15 hrs from hot Malaysia into just as hot Mediterranean. Waste of money.

Northern Europe, can visit any time. But south, I would choose either spring (April best) or late autumn (October -november)

Almost covered the whole of Europe already. Next trip Baltic states plus maybe Poland. Planning maybe next year autumn (October would be nice).

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania? All nice countries with beautiful old towns

Poland, I only visited Warsaw. Didn't really like it, mostly destroyed in WWII. should have visited Krakow instead

Visiting whole of Europe is quite an achievement.
I haven't done most of southeastern europe yet like Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Modova, Turkey, Cyprus, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia

The microstates like Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, Liechtenstein

I haven't visited Luxembourg, Ireland, mainland Portugal as well

mohon tanya which would be better choice first for Scandinavian countries? in terms of things to do and cost wise

im keen on Finland, but macam not as much things besides tackling the usual touristy Inari, Helsinki, Santa Village etc

Iceland and Norway OTOH is very focused on nature and requires renting cars to explore entire thing

Sweden, Denmark area havent research yet

Helsinki Finland is actually pretty boring. Only thing I liked was Hesburger. I find nothing much to do or see. Good thing is that it is near to Talinn, Estonia which I found more interesting

Iceland + Norway FTW

I didn't drive at all in Iceland and Norway. I only drive in UK biggrin.gif

It's nature based, but can just use local day tours instead of driving. Really enjoyed all my tours (especially the Tromso NorthernLights) as they can bring you to all the nice spots which is very hard to find on your own.

South scandinavia in the big cities I find a bit boring. If you want to do Scandinavia, I suggest doing the north in the winter. NorthernLights, IceHotel, Reindeer/Dog sledding, Skiing, etc

yeah its quite a short 2-3 day trip based on seeing how much to do in Helsinki. seems like Finland can be tackled in 7-9 days kind discounting Estonia. but Estonia should feel more like eastern europe like Austria/Croatia i heard

huh i thought driving would be more flexible. but yeah tours would be easier since all already prepped

yes my plan is during winter like Jan-Feb time, where prices seems decent. Finland surprised me abit, pricing for 3 star hotels around RM300-400 per night. but food wise its gg, EUR10 for one coffee.. sweat.gif

Baltic country have a different feel. Helsinki is a bit too quiet as a city. I don't think it is a popular place for tourists, given the lack of interesting things and price. You will thank me for Hesburger later smile.gif

For my holidays, I usually do day tours on alternate days if the place of interest is far away.

Driving can actually be more problematic sometimes, if you are driving into cities. Not all hotels have parking, those that have might charge more and there's sometimes congestion charge. It is useful when travelling out to rural places

Anyway, welcome to Helsinki!

Quiet destinations, can pick one of the smaller towns. One of my personal favourites is Bergen, Norway :

I'm sure most people are not bothered about small country like Malaysia which is why he has not included it in the list.

Anyway, I have asked AI:

Fallen country, many immigrants, high crime rate, negative economy, jobless and homeless people everywhere. Am I doing this right?

I actually wanted to go to Kotor, but couldn't fit it in. Mostar and Sarajevo is Bosnia, not in EU so I skipped it as it's not fallen country

I have some pictures from Split here in this thread and is a definitely must go if you are a GoT fan
