Feeding them orijen at the moment...
If your dog is healthy and you give them a balanced diet, i dont see why you need to give them any supplements unless the vet advised you to do so..

champion bloodline doesnt mean anything
probably just means that his great grand sire or dam was a champion or whatsoever. If they dont scan the hips of the parents..the best method will be to look at the parents of the pups to see if they are healthy and have good temperament |

5 weeks old...the puppy is a bit too young to leave the dam.
Goldens have a lot of problem with their hips due to irresponsible breeders. You should check their parents to see if they have any hip issues before buying a golden puppy |

u cant really identify the problem till the puppy is 1 year old and have their hips scanned.
Best method is usually if the puppies sire and dam are scanned and proven to be ok. since malaysian breeders dont really usually provide that option..guess the only option for u is to check the parents visually to see if they are ok.. |

QUOTE(tchiaming @ Mar 28 2009, 03:19 AM) okay this question might sound really really stupid but i'm curious as hell to find out the answer. I think you shouldnt breed ur dog just so that he doesnt die a virgin...I have a 7 year old male blonde labrador retriever. Very healthy dog. Has a certificate, (great grandfather of my dog is a champion breed) and bla bla bla. The problem is that my 7 year old dog is still a Virgin. He used to hump my family members legs but he has stopped doing so because we do not allow him to jump on us. I was just thinking, it is okay for my dog to be a virgin forever? or should i bring him to mate? if so, how and where do i bring it to mate? I just find it very pityful if my dog dies a virgin, u know. (my dog is not neutered and I do not wish for him to mate with any pariah dog.) you should only breed your dog if you think that it is a good representation of the breed standard and with no health problems.. Then you have to find another breeder with a b**** that has met similar criteria.. a champion in his bloodline doesnt mean anything..esp when it is his grandparents or great grandparents.. even if its the dog's parents the only thing it ensures is that the probability of you getting a dog that has similar characteristics is higher. A dog doesnt think like a human ..... you are probably thinking too much .. =) |

you cant check for HD untill your puppy is 1 year old.. you have to bring your puppy for a hip scan to see their score...
The only way you can check when you want to buy a puppy is to check whether if the parents of the puppies have good hip scores..this will more or less ensure that the puppies should be ok ( Nt 100% though!) technically...you are not supposed to breed the dogs unless both parents have hip scores of a certain level.. But...in malaysia..due to the demand for cheap GR..no one really care and people with a male and female GR wants to breed their puppy.. Hence you see a lot of golden retrievers here with alot of health problems... do look for a breeder that makes an effort rather than looking for cheap GR...in the end..the vet bills will more than make up the difference =0 Added on June 23, 2009, 12:04 pmmy 2 retrievers eating rambutans...LOL...deshelling the rambutans themselves...sometimes..even jumping up and plucking the rambutans themselves... lol http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=...52239973&ref=mf http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=103356434973 This post has been edited by TTY81: Jun 23 2009, 12:04 PM |
