Just sharing some knowledge that i have about GR

Yes, GR are prone to 热痱 (Re Fei) or hot spots due to their thick fur and also our weather here can cause it so make sure you check on your GR skin frequently for any hot spots

Staying inside the house is of course much cooler and it might help a little but still you will need to keep an eye out for any excessive scratching from your puppy. I normally check my GRs when i bring them into my house during the day... they think it's playtime with all the rubbing and petting though . This link might help:

It is possible for you to groom your GR yourself- bath and combing your puppy. I myself don't send my dogs to the groomers for any cut cause I feel that they look best in their natural state with their fur.. but i do trim their fur if they get too long.. and my GRs loves to be groom and occasionally a short trim but this is up to you if you feel that you want a professional to do the cutting and all

My dogs bath once every two weeks or sometimes once a month, depending where they have been playing

One tip i receive from another GR owner, is that to watch the GR eye. If there is a lot of 'eye shit' then your dog is heaty. You can let her drink some coconut water to cool down her body. I give coconut water to my GRs too btw when it's too hot, or when their 'eye shit' gets alot. My GRs loves to drink cold coconut water . Then you can see their pee turn from yellow to very light yellow colour . You can also put a bowl of water for your puppy so that she can drink anytime. Just remember to change the water frequently

And lastly, have fun with your puppy, she's still very young, 6 weeks. Give her loads of attention and love cause definitely she will miss her mom. Make sure you give her good food and lots of loving and she will stick with you all the time and be your very best friend.

And more very important thing, since she is so young now, make sure she doesn't go and smell other dogs poop/shit when you take her out for walk. Her immune system is still weak so the dog poop may contain virus and all, so avoid them.

Hahaha.. I also didn't know until my neighbour who is also a GR owner gave me the tip... but it is a very good tip... my GRs doesn't suffer from heaty issues anymore... and their pee isn't yellow anymore cause i give them coconut water when i see them getting alot of 'eye shit' 

i had try several vet b4.. they only said take times to recover..yes, still heavy shedding.. once i allow my gr entering my hse.. whole floor full of fur...

I'm considering to get a gr, but I read too much about the shedding which really worries me a bit. I don't have allergy problem but if it is as per what others said that the hair will stick on food, mouth, cloth, toilet everywhere, then it could be a problem. Is it really that bad? Body odour bad too?

I have a 1Y10M GR, playful yes - but she is so timid!! =S

She is so afraid of everything(ball rolling also ==") especially other dogs when I'm walking her in the evening.

Whenever see another, she'll terus enter ;
1) Defend position, growl damn loud (no bark)
2) Run for your life we're gonna die!! (runs back home at the speed of light)

Another problem is..after doing her 'big business', she malas to continue walking - straight wanna go home.

How to I;
1) make her have more courage? she's so afraid of everything =(
2) take her for a long walk without her running home after her 'big business'

hi, i going to adopt a stray dogs to teman him, how to make it the dog wont fighting or become friendly?

dare not to bring to desa park, confirm she will #1 stand very very still (must be defend mode), then #2 start growling very garang
I bring her out to jalan in evening on a leash..she don't let any dog near her, got friendly German-shep(with owner), I went to pet the German and she watch..then when the German go near her, she angry liao and was pulling away - like "Run for your life!!!!!!!"

lol, 100% no experience..she has buddies la, at home that is we have 1 mongrel & 1 mix(dachshund mix cocker spaniel), they were around when we brought the GR home, so she kinda got used to them already..no fights (except makan, no sharing )

so must be opposite side sex if adopt another dog?
cos the retriever seem no modivation and feel lonely mah
no ppl seem care him at all except me back home...

Any one of your GR suffering with Hip dysplasia ??

Yes, he is getting HD.. i having hard time to control him not to jump or run.. my GR seems hyperactive

hi my GR has quite a serious hip dysplasia and the vet recommend to take him go swimming to strengthen the muscles, is there any dog pools around PJ area??

vet recommended a place in damansara heights but dont wanna travel so far.
