Just my POV,

Nowdays I believe nothing will last long enough... it also depends on your criteria of the "last long...", how long it should works that fall into your "last long" category ? 3 years ? 5 years ? 10 years ? tongue.gif

I always recommends to only purchase a system that suits your current needs with a little bit of extra (eg. 12th Gen CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) as buffers.

Newer technologies will always puts older generations to obsolete, just see Windows 11 for example, older generation that doesn't have TPM2.0 are not able to be install (albeit there are many hacks available to bypass this) but do you really want to run the latest Windows 11 on an obsolete hardware ?

AI is here and will stay, whether you like it or not, so no point buying a high end specs computer where you are just using it for office workload.

So just get yourself a decent specifications, within your budget and just hope that the next 3years your computer are not obsolete by then.... tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Hope this helps... cool2.gif

Good insight

If I may ask are Asus Tuf gaming f16 FX607JU-UN3129W

Is it future proof at least for 5 years?

The Asus Tuf gaming f16 FX607JU-UN3129W seems to have very good specifications, but maybe you might want to consider :-

1. Upgrade Win11 Home to Pro
2. Upgrade RAM from 16GB to 32GB (if possible).

Then you are future proof for at least 3-5 years, hopefully.... tongue.gif

Sorry, I can't comment on the gaming side because not all games are created equal.
